Sickness before surgery

I am so made I just talked to the anestiologist office yesterday and they asked me of I had been sick or if I was feeling any symptoms of sickness and I said no.  I am less then 2 weeks away from my surgery date of March 14th.  Lastnight when I went to bed I started to feel pretty crummy.  I am on a 2 week full liquid diet and my energy level is really started to get pretty low.  My throat is scratchy and I started coughing lastnight.  I am so afraid I am not going to be able to have my surgery.  Do you guys have any suggesions on how to nip this in the butt before it is too late and it makes me not have my surgery?

THanks
Kim

This is common.  There are a LOT of people that have gotten sick the week before surgery.

Take your vitamins, get some Vit C, Vit D if you have it, and your cold meds.  Get rest and LOTS of fluids - you have 2 weeks, it should be gone by the time your surgery comes around.

I got sick(head cold and sore throat) the week before surgery. I went to an after hours clinic and got a z-pack and something called Magic Mouthwash, this was on Friday morning and my surgery was scheduled for Monday morning.  I was so afraid they were going to cancel.  I was much better by that Monday and everything went according to schedule.

I would see if I could get something to start taking and get better before surgery.  You have plenty of time if you have almost 2 weeks.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Get some B12 for energy but I am a COMPLETE supporter of what Vit C can do for you. I take it everyday, (it tastes yummy) and have done very well with staying away from any cold dymptoms for a long time ****knock on wood***
2 weeks is plenty of time to feel better!

Plus, depending on what you get, they might not postpone surgery anyway. I think they only do that if you are running a fever but every surgeon is different, of course.
