You could also look for a bodpod site, as that is just as accurate as the hydrostatic measure!

I have - the closest is 2 hours away!  That's why I've been sticking with the Tanita and knowing that it's not entirely accurate, but it does give me a trend line, and shouldn't be more than a couple points off.

Very interesting stuff!!  Makes me want to find out my numbers before surgery. Or maybe not. In 2005, I dieted really strictly and lost something like 40lbs, working out every single day for an hour. I got my body fat tested and it was 50%. That was so defeating! Makes me really worried as to what I would be now.

Well, it might suck at the time to do it pre-op, but it could be super interesting when you've lost all your weight to compare and see just exactly how far you have come! :)

I've been trying to find a place to get tested, but up here there are only a couple of places that have a bodpod and they are either only available to students at one University or it's a 2 hour drive and over $100.00.

How much does it cost in the US to get tested in a bodpod?  I think they may have one at the University of Buffalo, which is actually closer than the place in Ontario.  I keep meaning to give them a call to find out if it's available for the general public and what they charge.

Wow, $100?? That's a lot. My university charges members/students $25, $40 for non-members/general public. I guess they can charge what they want, though! Yikes!

I did a new google search and found a bodpod at my local university, 10 minutes from my house!   They charge $58.00 but are having a 50% off sale until May 1st!

Well, I went for my test today and to say my result was shocking would be an understatement.  I knew I was thinnish but didn't think I was that thin!

My bodyfat % is 4.7!  So I either have to cut back on the exercise or eat more and since it's impossible for me to eat the 2786 calories they say I need to eat in order to maintain my weight at my exercise level, I have to cut back on the exercise.

Who would have ever thought I'd have too little fat!

It's really not that impossible to eat that much. You have to break a few of "the rules" but when I do a really long bike ride, I I can get in 3000-4000 calories that day (and I need to!)

First, I drink calories all through the exercise even if I'm only exercising for an hour.

Second, I eat a lot of sliderly foods so I can eat more often.

Third, I will start drinking 20-30 min. after a meal instead of waiting the 45-60 min. that works better for me.

Fourth, I eat high calorie, low volume foods such as nuts and don't eat low and no-fat versions of foods.

I only do these sorts of things when I'm really hard into training for long distance events though. Right now I'm trying to lose 5 pounds and only exercising 5x a week instead of the 7-9x I will be doing in another month or two.

My Weigh****chers scale measures Body Fat, Hydration, and BMI and it beats me how in the heck it knows!  But, I'm kinda sorta keeping an eye on it.   You certainly don't loooook like you're at 46% body fat!!  I think they all lie just to motivate us to do better.  LOL
