What are your top three recent NSVs?
That's great to read that you did the Couch to 5K too! When were you able to do it? Did it really work? Could you run the 5K at 12 weeks? Did you do it outdoors or on a treadmill? Do you know what speed you were running when you first started? I'm really jazzed about this. Can you tell? :)

i started the couch to 5k on 10/11/10. it was so hard! the second week was the one that almost did me in. that running 90 seconds!!! oh my gosh!!! i almost quit that week. had i not had a running buddy i would have thrown up both hands and said "can't do this"....but....we went on.
my first 5k was 10/30/10 - and i walked most of the way but i finished! my time was 48:50
2nd 5k was 11/20/10 - again...i walked most of it because it had killer hills...once again...i finished....my time was 46:45
3rd 5k was 1/16/11 - i ran the whole thing....if you can call what i do running....i look more like a chicken trotting across the yard! - anyway....in my heart i ran like a gazelle! i finished in 42:30 (this race was held at the same place as the first one so i actually shaved 6:30 off my total time!
4th 5k was 2/26/11 (this past saturday) and once again i ran the entire time....and it had some killer hills....my time was 40:52.
i'm already registered for one next month as well.
i guess i could almost run the 5k at the end of the 9 week program but couldn't run it in 30 minutes. with me....its more like an endurance thing. like i said.....my run is more like a chicken trotting. i'm not going to say its easy but i will tell you it's very rewarding to be 52 years old and do this. and,....i've always been a walker....i did the 60 mile breast cancer walk at over 200 pounds! but...when i started running....i lost weight differently. i began to lose a lot in my hips and legs (my legs have always been large because i was so athletic growing up). and....will try to do one each month (if for no other reason...to keep me motivated!)
i run wherever i can. there's a small track down the street from my workplace and i've gone there after work.....i've gone to my church to run (long, long driveway), i've run on the long driveway at my house, when weather is really too bad to be outside i have a bowflex treadclimber.....it is meant for walking and top speed is 4 mph. what i do on the treadmill days is wear my heartrate monitor and get the heart rate up and i'll do 3.1 miles (takes 53 1/2 minutes)....just to keep the breathing/heartrate where it needs to be!
also...i have an iphone and couch to 5k has an app for $2.99 and it will actually tell you when to walk, when to run, when to cooldown...etc!
hope this helps....and again.....i'm proud of you!!

Wow, what an impressive report. You've done fantastic with the running. I hope I'm just like you when I grow up. I find that I'm exhausted after I do the Couch 2 5k. Maybe because it's the first week. Hopefully it will get better.
I have the free app on my iPhone that someone else put together with music and voice prompts to run. It works great for me.
I hope I can hang in there with it. I wish I had a running buddy, but I can do this!!
