Trying to figure out my tiny tummy...
Why is it when I expect weight loss I do not get it..... stayed right on task no grazing no additional calories and the scale does nto budge? Then when I do have extra calories during a business lunch and even a small glass of wine and I think... oh fine my scale is going to go UP not Down and it goes.........down!!??? I cannot figure my tiny tummy out!
It's like the more calories I eat the more I lose but if I eat 600-800 I do not lose a thing. Over 900 and I generally lose about a half pound every day or so? If I add an extra protien shake and get 80+ grams of protein (extra 150-175 calories) I lose more.
What is the trick to figuring out the proper balance? My next goal is to get to 190 lbs and I have 6.4 pounds between me and that goal. I would like to be there by Mid-March so any assistance, thoughts, advise or tricks you can offer are appreciated.

The trick is finding what works for you. Everyone's metabolism and body is just that theirs. If there was a fool proof set of rules that everyone lost exactly the same we wouldn't need WLS. You may need higher calories to lose at your maximum potential. Some people actually do go into starvation mode and 600-800 calories may be this for you. You have to adapt and tweak your program. If you are not comfortable staying at the higher calorie count I suggest upping the calories for a few days (kind of like a jump start) and then going back down to the 600-800 range. HTH
In my vast 10 week experience, I've learned not to set date deadlines. My mind enjoys such challenges, but my body won't cooperate, just for spite. So for me, no more weight / date specific goals.
Re. the formula for loss, it's interesting that you've found a pattern. I have not. I wish that someone could tell me specifically what to do to speed my loss along. I've tried more calories, less calories, more solid food, less solid food, more protein, more water, more fiber/laxatives and more exercise. The only thing I can say, is I've not been very scientific on making such changes and really can't tell you what works and what doesn't.
Instead, I've gone for comfort. I've got a routine that is comfortable for me. And if my loss is only 1 to 1-1/2 pounds per week, so be it. I'm in this for the long haul, and as long as it's a loss, I'm satisfied. I'm even trying not to think of scale weight goal benchmarks ahead of me. Because they too seem to make me more anxious. Instead I'm setting exercise goals. They're something I can control. The scale, I cannot.

I LOVE the very IDEA of i'd like to lose such and such amount of weight by such and such a time ! LOL !!
I mean if wishes could be horses .... I'd be eighty pounds ....
Unfortunately I'd have to stop eating bread and wine and other naughties to do that lol.....
Seriously , I always lost the most when i ate what I wanted ( protein first and my thing is fat free and very high fiber from lotsa veggies ) drank water religiously and made morning aerobic exercise a priority ....
Good luck Kim i'm just teasing ya ! It WILL come off eventually .... and probably Ure losing size even in between... if U need some encouragement just go try on some jeans

I found this happened with me too. I'd stick on program, lose very slowly or not at all, have a meal with no-no's, lose weight and start over again with the program. Sometimes I did it on purpose, but it may be you just need higher calories for your body NOT to feel its being deprived and try to hold onto everything it can.
It sounds like you're doing the right thing by added extra protein shakes - that's what we usually recommend to up your calories, but I (and Roz) feel extra protein drinks can actually give your body the fuel it needs to burn more efficiently too.
I dont' think there is a true-and-tried formula. We all have to figure out what works for us - and it sounds like you have!

Heck, I'm a year out and I still haven't figured out my wonderful Sleevie. I love it but I'm clueless about calories etc. The only things that I know for sure are low carbs and lots of exercise work best for my body. Other than that..... no clue.
Good luck and have fun with this journey.

I track every thing I eat and every day I weigh myself to try to figure out a pattern and I am clueless. The only thing that seemed to make a difference in my weight loss was when I upped the protein. I get in about 125 grams a day and I increased the fluids. I get in over a gallon a day. But that could have happened anyway. I haven't seem exercise really making a difference, eating less, eating more. It goes when it goes. It could just be a coincidence that you lost weight after you ate more. Or it could be you are tricking your body to think you aren't in starvation mode. If I found I lost more weight with more food I would definately be eating that amount of food that it took to lose weight.
