Today was not a great day
I am very sorry for your rotten day, like so many others have said I have been in your place many times. I am a stay at home mom also (15years) and have always hated shopping no matter what size I was or am the cute outfits I want are a size smaller. Preop I dreaded the few times a year when I would have to go outside my daily uniform of jeans and a tee shirt to dress up for my DH's holiday party or a wedding or some special event.
If the person who is doing your interview has any skill in choosing the right person for the job they will see past your less than perfect outfit and see your wonderful personality. If this is the job for you then I know you will get it. If not then the right job is still out waiting for you to find it. GOOD LUCK sending prayers and positive juju for you. Kristi

April---I was just in your spot last week. I am a telecommuter so somedays I might not even make it out of my sweats! But last week I had to go to the office for my performance review and had to wear "office attire". My both of my "office" outfits were too small....I had to undo the top button on the pants and just wear a loose blouse! I felt miserable and horribly uncomfortable---but it motivated me even more. I told myself that soon I would not have to deal with this and that I would never go back to being this heavy. Just remember we have all been there, that is why we are here :)
Well as I was getting dressed this morning for my interview. I got a call from the salon asking me to reschedule. The GM's son was sick...So yes of course I did. In the back of my mind I was so thankful because I could go out and buy a new outfit. My hair and makeup was already done. I just had to add my accessories. Well as I was coming down the steps hubby said Wow you look awsome.....lol....needless to say I didn't go out and buy a new outfit. I took all the encouragement from all of you WONDERFUL ladies and what my hubby said to me. I told myself! I might be heavy but I can still make myself look good in this outfit. Today hubby and I had lunch out. I have been feel confident all day today. I kept getting postings from all of you through out the day and it made me feel so good! All of you wonderful ladies don't even know me. But yet you know where I'm at, where I'm coming from and can relate on many levels. Its so nice to have people that understand! Thank you so very much
Tomorrow at 10am is my new interview time. I will post when I get back how it went :)

Well, I am so glad the day ended on a high note. I have had your experience soooo many times. I end up with pants way too long and unattractive tops. I'm not even that short! (5'5") But maybe my legs are short. Anyway, one frustrations I have is that folks tend to think plus size women have ankles the same width as our thighs. Why do I need pants that flare out a thousand inches at the bottom?!
Anyway. I'm so glad you ended up feeling as beautiful as you are! And your husband sounds like a wonderful man.

I'm glad you ended up getting more time, but as an HR person, I wanted to throw a bit of humor your way.
The fact that you care about how you look at this interview puts you ahead of the game. I've only been in the business about three years, but in that short amount of time, I've seen it all. Guy in jeans and t-shirt with a giant marijuana leaf on it? Sure! That's appropriate! Girl in skirt so short I could tell what color her underwear she was wearing? Why not! Girl wearing a zip up denim jumper that ended just under her butt and was unzipped to her waist with only a bra underneath? Of course! Keep in mind these people had scheduled interviews, they weren't just walking in off the streets.
You will be just fine. As long as you are clean and professional, we don't care if your clothes aren't as fashionable as you'd like them to be.
P.S. One guy could tell halfway through the interview that he wasn't going to get the job. When the person interviewing him left for a minute, they came back to find him gone, but he had left us a "present" in the plant in the room. Yup, he pooped in our plant and left.
