Randi,
What great news to hear that you are on the mend!
I know we always get the big belly surgeries in icu postop due to the fluid shifts. So hang in there and take it easy!
Rest, sip and walk, and dont forget your deep breathing exercises too.
Prayers for a speedy recovery.
Maria

Sorry I didn't write back for a few days. I am not on the computer much since my feet and ankles are still really swollen and need to keep my feet elevated - unfortunately I don't have a laptop.
I am surviving. When I lie in bed and don't move the pain isn't bad other than the stupid tailbone and that is terrible. Try to lie on the coxxyx pillow when I can. When try to get out of bed or change positions, it is unbearable. I have to say, this is the worst pain I have ever experienced. I have always had laparoscopic surgeries, I never had open before. I am waiting to hear back from the doctors office to find out when I get the staples out - she said 2-3 weeks, I don't know if that is from surgery date or release from hospital. I called Thursday, hopefully they will call on Monday. Unless it is an emergency, it takes a few days to hear back from them. I also called her satelite office and not her main office, so that is probably the problem but that is where I want to see her. Hopefully, once the staples come out I will be in less pain.
I really thought this go round was going to be easy, but I guess not. The eating is going well. The last few days I ate cheesy scrambled eggs, quiche lorraine, macaroni and cheese, tilapia, sloppy joe meat, egg salad, protein hot chocolate. This week I hope to add more things - I know Monday night I am having chicken for dinner and hope that goes well. I know it is a strange diet but I don't want to cook and those things I can just heat up and I need fattening foods for now.
Enough about me, how are you doing?

I've been gone a week and just catching up, Randi. I'm glad you're home and making do even if it's painful right now. Good to see you home and getting back to into your fighting form.
