Maybe someone might be able to help (dress question)

I was just approved for surgery this past Friday woohoo....But I'm in a wedding come Oct 29th 2011. I am the MOH. I should have my surgery (sleeve) no later than the second week in April I was told. Pretty much that leaves 7 months and 2 weeks that I will be losing weight before the wedding. My question is I have to order my dress. They said to order it at least 6 to 10 weeks before the wedding. I have no clue what size to order. They said they can take the dress down 2 sizes from the original size. But I would like to order it to make sure they have enough time to alter it. I'm pretty short about 5 foot. I did tell them I was having WLS. All they could tell me is they have had some ladies in there that has had the surgery done and has had to order 2 dresses. These dresses are no refundable. The dress is 190 I really don't want to shell out 400 for 2 dresses plus pay to get the other one altered.

Any help would be great. I have seen girls with my BMI, body shape and size they are a size 4-10 with in 10 months. I just feel so stuck on what to do. And I really don't want to back out of the wedding. but will if I have to.....

It really depends on how fast you lose the weight.
I am 4'11 and so far have dropped from a 20-22 to a 10-12. That is a huge difference! If you have until 6 wks prior to order, I would wait until then, that way if you lose a bit before hand, it will be easier to alter.

Hey!  Congratulations on your upcoming surgery!  If you have surgery in April, you will look amazing by October and very well could be almost done with your weight loss (don't know how much you are looking to lose)
I am 5 feet tall and started at 206....(BMI was 41) I was a tight size 18 or a loose size 20.  Seven months later I am wearing loose size 8's and tight size 6's.  I'm a pear shaped person though.  My upper body is a size small/extra small.

I would not back out of the wedding, but definitely would wait until the last minute before ordering your dress.  You really cannot know how much or where you are going to lose what, not even going by anybody else who seems to share your physiotype!

I'm 4'10" and started at 220, size 22-24.  75# later I'm a medium top, 10-12 pants.  Not quite 6 months yet. 

I'd wait.  The thing is that there is less difference between 2 little sizes and 2 big sizes.  Although you lose weight slower as you go, the sizes change faster.  Does that make sense? 

Stay in the wedding, you'll be ready to show off, but order the dress as late as possible.

April...you have a couple of exciting things to look forward to. I definitely would not back out of the wedding. You have about 20 weeks before you have to order the dress from the time you will have surgery. See how it goes and at last minute order the dress. By september I would think it would be easier to estimate your future loss based on your previous loss. Good luck for both the surgery and the wedding !

 I wouldn't even DREAM  about ordering a dress at this point  ..... honestly  .    This  is something I think Ure going to have to wait until August  to decide .

I got married  in October too  and  there are awesome sample sales  and stuff right before and after the bridal shows  in late August  early September ...  

I ended up getting my dresses free from a designer  I worked for ( Morgan le Fay ) ( i still  have a couple if U can fit a size 0-2)  but  I saw  so many  amazing ones around the same time for next to nothing  ... I was  sorely tempted  to be unfaithful ( to the designer  lol) ....

I'll tell ya  where  to go if U want to  look in NY  ...

Another vote for waiting til the last minute to order the dress! :)

Thank you all so much! Your all so wonderful! Its hard to wait to buy the dress. I'm afriad they might pull it from the racks. Then my friend would be so hurt because I am in another dress! That is the last thing I want to do. But she does know I am having WLS. And she does understand about me wanting to wait. I was just hoping maybe by some crazy chance I might be able to get an idea of were my size would be at. But your all right there is no way!

This wedding means alot to me in a few ways. 1 this is the first time I will be in a dress sence 1998. I loved wearing dresses. That was my most favorite thing to wear.

2nd I felt so honored to be the MOH for my firend. I am older than her but I have known her sence she was 2.

3rd the church where she is having the wedding at. Was my home church at one point in time. I had went there for over 11 years. After my dad passed away (he went to that church) it was very hard for me to go back there. I haven't been back for almost 2 years now. It would be nice to blow there socks off (in a good way not to show off) but it would be a great for them to see me the new me atleast. I would love to see them all also. Alot of the woman there knows I have been trying to get the weight off for many years. I'm 32 and I am tired of feel like Im alot older because of the clothing choices I have to wear. I used to love to wear fun trendy clothes
