how much do lightweights generally lose in the first month?
thanks happyme. can you believe I stopped eating carbs a month preop and did not lose ONE single pound :O my surgeon did not require losing weight according to my BMI, so it was not a problem per se.
I think I was so bloated before surgery, most of the lost weight was what they call water weight. still, my clothes are fitting so much better this is such a great relief. and my face is much thinner and reminds me of my 20s face... I thought I was getting quite old but it was just the weight! ;)
have you decided on surgery yet? think I read you were doubtful...

There is an article on DSFacts that you need to read called "It's not Pounds, It's Percentages" that explains this very well. You can find it here: http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss.html It was written by Carolyn M.
I think that you have done an exceptional job losing 30 lbs your first month. That is fantastic.

I lost 20 pounds pre surgery, (15 on the pre-op liquid diet), 20 pounds post op in month 1 and 11 pounds in month 2. I have 117 total to lose, so I'm almost half way to goal at 2 + months out. There is no norm, there's only you. What I found is you can't say... I'm going to lose X by this date. Your body doesn't acknowedge dates, in fact snubs it's nose at dates and timelines for weight loss. It is what it is. You (i.e. ME) need to be patient.

I lost 20 lbs the first month, 9 lbs the 2nd month and 10 lbs the 3rd....
I think you're ahead of the norm from what I've seen!
You're doing great - just set your expectations that those numbers don't happen every month.
