how much do lightweights generally lose in the first month?

it's been 4 weeks today that I did the surgery and lost "only" 30 pounds (14 kg).
not complaining, never lost so much in one single month, but I hear all over people who lose 40, 50... I can't recall but is it more common for heavyweights?

I know everyone is different etc, but what is usually the norm for lightweights to lose in the first months? and what about the next ones?

SW 215=98 | GW 137=62 | CW: 116 lbs = 52.5 kg | 5'4 | lost: 99 lbs=45 kg | goal: 7-9 mo.

You are doing just fine, about a pound a day.  Some people lose more, some less.  It depends on what their starting weight was and how much they lost pre op.  I think you're pretty normal.   Congratulations.

thanks Lucy! I actually lost 20+ pounds in the first week, and the rest in the last days. I had a huge stall.

I noticed at the lightweights forum people are around my starting weight though, and was wondering was is more or less the norm to lose from surgery day on.

thanks abby grl! just wanted to know if I was around the norm. I keep seeing people on main VSG forum losing 50 pounds in the first month and was wondering if I am losing too slow :P

No, I think those massive initial losses are usually heavyweights, because 50 lbs is over half of what some lightweights need to lose.. period! I wouldn't worry about it too much, your body will do what it wants and lose how it wants in its own time. Comparing yourself to others will make you nuts! (I know, it did me!)

I don't have the stats in front of me, but what it comes down to seems to be that we lose the same percentage of excess weight as a heavy weight would, but since they have so much more to lose, the number of pounds is less. If you go by percentages, you've probably lost almost 25% of your excess weight already, suggesting that in well under a year you may be at goal.

Just checked your ticker - you have lost almost half your excess weight in 2 months! Sister, you are doing FINE! Keep up what you're doing, and things will continue to work!

yes, true I think it's about percentages indeed.

I actually lost almost half my excess weight in a MONTH! ;)

on the 24th will be a month from my surgery and I did not lose one pound before. but I know now it will go slower... it's okay. I am just looking forward to start living again, get some new clothes and feel good about myself asap, as all of us I guess ;)
