It seems that every time I brush my hair or touch my hair..I'm pulling off strands..

I am definately getting my vitamins in and water...but I have to go to an event in a week and I really really like my hair... I hope it stays thick for one more week...
I know I sound melodramatic..but really I like my hair and its going right in the front !!
When I get back, I think maybe I'll get short hair cut..maybe it won't be so bad...

I'm three months out so I have a LOOONG way to go..

I hate to really type this but I think I may be one who kind of dodged the bullet.  I have had more hair loss than normal, but not handfuls.  Which is a good thing because I was already pretty thin in front.  Maybe it was the religiousness of protein, vitamins and bioten.  Who knows.  But I sure am glad because I didn't have that much hair to begin with.

I did cut mine shorter and I wa**** much less often because it is dry anyway.  Lots of conditioner, not much messing with it.  Don't know if any of that helped but it is what I have done.

I wish I would get hair in like I lost tons, then maybe it would be normal again.  VBG

Price I gotta  tell ya  Ur  new bob is SOO  flattering  !   I see  such a girlish  cutie  pie lil face peeking out from under that swingy , shiny hair .....

and it doesnt look thin at all .

I love precision blunt cuts for precisely that reason  - especially  if U have  naturally straight hair  they AMPLIFY  the volume  .... wether  its cut straight across  the back or chin length  into a bob  or shoulder length  into a long bob ...

it all shows OFF  Ur  gorgeous  hair especially from the back .

What IM  REALLY  tired  of is  extension cuts  / wig  cuts   ie  long layers designed to hide  EXTENSIONS  on  regular people  ..... who are  copying  celebrities  MINUS the  expensive but essential  hairpieces ..

I had to get my hair  shorn into  a layered  long  mess  because  some idiot of a hairdresser  over bleached my strands  and  the  sun  got em over the summer sailing ... and  some of the longest hairs  on top broke off  ..

quite an ugly look , especially from the back .

So now i have a hard choice ....  shear  myself like a sheep  and  have  two inch  ( but shiny and naturally colored - to be highlighted )  kinda- curly  short hair all over (  SOOO  not me  ..but headbands  and earrings work )   or condition condition condition and  maybe  actually add some  hair where  mine is missing ....  when i am ready to work .  GRRRRR  what  a choice !!

I have long hair and am worried that if I cut it short it will be more noticable..
I have been washing it once a week and just putting it in a ponytail so I don't have to bru**** too much.. I have thicker than normal hair but it feels so thin now...

I'm so so sad...but not so sad that I wouldn't have the surgery again... I'm finally recognizing myself in the mirror again and that is priceless..

I'm thinking hair pieces...?

I am beginning to shed my hair now too... so scary, as I don't have thick hair. I wear mine in a bob just above my shoulders, but will definitely do something cute and shorter if necessary. Shorter hair does look "thicker", and your new growth will "catch up" quicker.

Most people I see after they've had WLS do tend to have thinning hair, but it usually doesn't look all that bad. I'm sure hoping I keep that mind set to get me through these next few months! Good luck to you too!

I had surgery in July and my hair loss started in October and ended in early January.  I have thick, long hair and nobody seemed to notice but me.  I just followed my regular vitamin and protein regiment....I didn't do the Biotin or special shampoos, etc.   I DID cut back on how often I washed and combed my hair and kept it pulled back in a clip or ponytail 24/7.

It is frustrating and troubling but when I discussed it with my doctor he simply asked me, "Did you see any bald people in my waiting room??"   Of course I didn't!  This too shall pass and it's such an insignificant part of this amazing journey!

Hang in there!

I agree..there were no bald people in the waiting room! LOL..

One of my friends who did not have the surgery but has thin hair normally jokes with me that now I'll be on an even keel with them....
I don't think it's funny though..

This too shall pass..and from one of my favorite books..

the biggest problem with hairpieces is that the WEIGHT causes permanent alopecia ( balding ). The problem with wigs and hats is they cut off air circulation to the scalp and cause balding that way . .

I think our hair is ESPECIALLY vulnerable at this point right after surgery when the body doesn't know WHAT to do .

My advice is take a good hard look at ur hair from the back ( without styling it particularly ) in a three - way mirror . Look at the ROOTS , look at the ends ... look at it ALL then decide if it really looks as great as we IMAGINE just seeing the FRONT ...

I know this kind of thing always helps me agree to cut at least 3-4 ratty inches off and my hair looks SO much the better for it ( and ends up a LOT healthier )

They say cut hair grows faster .... I find that MIGHT be true ...

it also helps me judge my color accurately .... like a rosette of BLACK looking roots in BLonde doesnt work .... neither does a rosette of light gray to white on a person dying their hair dark ....

Could U perhaps just look at this as an OPPORTUNITY to change the tired old look Uve been clinging to for years up ? Thats what I did when my back hairs broke off . I allowed my dark roots to grow out and got this very long seventies " shag " kind of hairstyle.... and embraced the rock n roll spirit of the look . Why NOT ?!

so I've been rocking leather pants , mini dresses that would have looked too short and too provocative with BIG SEXY HAIR ..and just look super - cute and young now with tights and over a long sleeved tight t shirt with motorcycle boots .... even short shorts ( in leather ! ) and a black leather ! mini kilt off the runway .....

I switched my color palette to black , purple and super dark grays which I NEVER Could wear successfully with bleached brassy looking hair ..... its been kind o*****h winter lol ;)

The colors look totally Fabulous with black diamonds , blackened gold and silver , rich purple opals and moonstones ....

Hot comes in MANY flavors ..... and though I TOTALLY understand FINALLY wanting to look a certain way Uve dreamed of looking for YEARS .... thats not ALL that s open to U .. cuz ure a lot HOTTER NOW !!!!! ( thank God ) just saying .....
