I give up.....

I know it is frustraiting, but don't give up. Stalls happen. I would recommend doing a complete food log every day of everything that goes in your mouth so you can show it to the nut. Also, the nut needs to be one that works with wls patients. If it makes you feel better, my psychotherapist Mary Jo Rapini told us, and my nut backed her up on it, that you will not get obease again by munching on carrots. She actually recommends carrying a bag of baby carrots around to munch on so you don't munch on things you shouldn't. She also said that when you are really hungry, put your head in the freezer and take some deep breaths. If it was head hunger, that will probably make it go away for a while. I know that when I'm depressed, I just don't have it in me to only eat when my stomach needs to be full, so I have turned to the carrots for help. It does help. When you do the log, you may find you are eating more or less calories than you thought, and either way can cause the stall. You may be getting too many carbs or not enough protien and water.  It could just be your body trying to catch its breath in the wieghtloss race. You still have your tool and you can keep losing. Hang in there. A nut and counselor are the right steps.

Stacey, those stalls are the pits!!  Hang in there and keep on following your program.  You are doing an awesome job.  That scale will move again.  Cindy

Stacey, I am still seeing a therapist. I needed to deal with lots of issues before I had surgery. I have a tendency to depression and I know I can't succeed alone. The initial excitement of loss was great, but now doubts creep in.

I am no expert, but I have been losing more steadily since I have a protein drink almost every night late in the evening. I think it was Heather who suggested it.

I am like you, most protein drinks gag me. I take 6 oz. of 1% milk and add three scoops of Beneprotein and mix. It tastes like plain milk, no yucky aftertaste or smell. I know we are all different, but it has been helping me. I can't eat much dense protein, mostly soups, so the drink gives me about 24 gms. extra protein and the milk helps me to sleep.

Your posts mean a lot to all of us, so please don't withdraw, even if you are doing homework.

Stacey,
Your posts mean a great deal to me, a newbie, and I value your input and insights.
Your suggestions for a support group and a therapist can only help you.  Good for you that you've already plotted your course.  If you need to stop posting to give you more time for other things, then that's certainly a good option.  But if you're not going to post for other reasons, well, from a totally selfish point of view, I'm really bummed.

And, from reading between the lines in your posts, you have SO much going on in your life. Would there be any possibility in simply accepting the stall on a day by day basis, and being grateful that you have other signficant NSVs?

Your photos show a lovely woman with an incredible smile lit from within. I hurt to think of you in this spot. But as they say, This too shall pass.

I'm so sorry you're going through this, Stacey.  I don't have any helpful advice, but I can say that I stall all of the time, too.  Remember the step-wise progression of weight loss, and don't forget how much you would weigh if you lost 3 lbs a week every week!

You are strong and you will get through this.  With help.

Big hugs to you!

Hang in there Stacy! I am suffering through the same thing. I feel like a ping pong ball, my weight is up and down! And never below 142!

I just try to keep celebrating my small successes. The way I can move. How I feel just doing simple things like washing the floor without wanting to die! Laughing when I hang my 10 petite levi's up and think, who's jeans are these!

I also went through some old photos and had quite a shock. Even my dear hubby said, I dont remember you being that big! That helped me alot to see how far I have come.

I am just trying to trust in my tool and follow my plan. Keep moving my body, and eventually it will come off.

I am glad you will be able to speak with the doc, and the NUT is a great idea. Hang in there. You are not alone.

We can do this together!!!

This may sound completely bizarre... but what about giving an estrogen patch a try?
I know when your body releases the fat cells it also releases estrogen, and we all know the havoc estrogen wreaks on our bodies - I've heard many women who have had WLS praise the patch as helping out with moods and "cushioning" it so to speak as our bodies adjust to the lower levels of insulin. Like "weening" off an addiction so to speak.
I could be totally off base and I really suck at trying to explain things, but regardless of what ends up working, I hope you all the best and send hugs from Canada!

Keep your chin up and a smile on.

Michelle,
It is funny you posted this because it has made me start thinking. My hormone levels are all normal but about 3 months ago I started taking a birth control pill to control my cycle. I am wondering if this has anything to contribute to my weight stall. I have NEVER been able to take Birth control with out gaining a ton of weight. I am going to experiment and see what happens. Thank you for your post, I really appreciate it.

Stacey,
At my support group meeting this week, my surgeon said to be very careful with birth control pills post op because of the malabsorption issue.  He's seen a lot of women come in pregnant post op who thought they were covered on the pill!
