Okay, I went shopping at Goodwill today

I'm only three weeks out but....I figured I better do something as dh is wearing almost all my tshirts. (actually most were his originally and got passed down to me when he got too big for them).

But I had noticed my tops getting too big. My pants are still okay as my tummy is still a bit swollen. And I was wearing them a bit tight there at the end anyway.

So I get into Goodwill and knowing everyone has head issues, I head for the larges. I had about 2 larges in my closet from a previous go-round. So I go thru what's there and find 4 cotton tops, two were long sleeve, one a 3/4 and one a short sleeve. And I go off to the dressing room. One didn't fit, two did fit nicely, and one was a bit big! So I hang up the one that didn't fit and fh had found a pair of jeans and we leave there for Wal-Mart. Told him I wanted to check their clearance racks.

Before he and I got married I had gotten three tops for about $10 total. I still have them and they are in good shape. I really made those $3.+ dollar tops last a LONG time as we have been married over 14 years. Don't expect these to last as long, LOL. I found two more, these were XL due to how they were cut and were tshirt type tops.

Not bad for someone who just three weeks ago was wearing a 2XL on top.

NOT BAD?   I'd say pretty freakin terrific to find new clothes so much smaller than you were wearing pre-op.  You did great!  Congratulations on already seeing the new you!

Thanks, Lee, it was a pretty good feeling. Good thing these aren't expensive tops, lol.

That's great, Liz!  You're going to be blown away with the rapidity with which you experience these size shifts!

I sure hope so. One of the things we did pre-op was take measurements, and will be taking them each month. We forgot to get dh's first month but got his yesterday and my first set is coming up next week. Should prove interesting.

That's great.  that early out I was in the same old, same old.  But don't get too attached to anything cause it won't fit for long.

I have to say goodwill became my friend...a little advice, even if things are cheaper don't go crazy buy a few things at once...you won't be in them long! I made that mistake, and some pants I only got to wear a few times before sending them back to goodwill...enjoy the new you!

Oh, I don't plan on it and yesterday I discovered by being nosey that we could (by me paying) save more, I'm over 55 and can qualify for their Senior Citizen discount.

Actually I have had only a few items in my closet over my lifetime that has been hard to give up and only one or two that I've kept. One has been a Christmas Sweater that right now is still too small. And one is my Wedding Dress that is packed away. I suspect that by next Christmas, the sweater will be too big, but I will still keep it. And the dress will continue to occupy space in my closet packed away.

My Goodwill strategy is to be very happy if I come out with 1 quality item  This winter I got a gorgeous black wool coat in great condition for $9.95.  An Eileen Fisher Italian wool sweater for $5.95.  Great long robe, that I'm wearing right now, for $3 on a 50% off day and a fabulous red cotton big bulky turtleneck sweater for $3.50 when I was on vacation in Virginia.  If I see a Goodwill, I have to stop and shop.   I'm at the point now where I think that many of my purchases will fit me for a long time, if not forever, so I'm willing to spend more on 1 item, knowing that I'll get a lot of use from it.
