Just for fun: What's better eating less or increasing your exercise

I thought of this after reading many posts about stalls. I know ppl stall for different reasons but when it comes down to less in/more out, how do you prefer to do it? My cals do range depending on the day. Some days only 600 and others 850, but on higher calorie days I am also doing an hour cycling class and/or using the treadmill for interval training.

Please tell me your preference and why. I'd like to keep it in mind as I continue my journey.

Thanks

I really didn't do either.  My exercise stays around the same and so do my calories.  What has changed is WHAT those calories are.  As in non-carb.  That seems to make a difference, up protein, down carbs.

When I hit a stall, I increased my protein.  I never count calories and I keep my exercise plan pretty much the same.   Cindy

I just recently started taking a real look at my protein intake as it has been on the low side. I have been loosing but of course that is not the point if I am making by body suffer so I am hoping that with me having a pre-planned menu of sorts I can incorporate more protein on a regular basis.

I don't count calories but do count carbs and protein.  When I stalled, I upped my calories and it seemed to break it, mainly because my body decided I wasn't depriving it anymore and let go of the pounds it was holding onto.

I can't remember how many calories on a daily basis I was consuming during my active weight loss... but want to say it was around the 800 mark....

I have NO idea now how many I consume.  Probably not a good thing...

You are not the first person I have heard say they do not count calories but do watch where they get them from and look for high protein. It makes sense but as I just said to another poster, protein and I have not been doing well as a couple.

Thanks so much for your input

I do the same for excercise..I walk all the time..pretty much every day..(window shopping) I did that before I has surgery though..I just like to shop.
3x a week a the gym where I take Power Pump Class, Circuit Training, Water Aerobics and
on my own, 1/2 an hour on an eliptical machine, and weight training.
(I do the excercises from Spark People.com also)

My calories also range.. I stalled for a while on 500-600 calories..I mean for like 3 weeks 1 day down, 2 days up..but always at the same level.. I found the lightweights thread, started posting my menus got some advise from Roz, followed it up with a visit to my nutritionist..the doctor not the dietician..who I do love.. and I stopped eating breads/pasta's..please note I wasn't eating a lot of them in the first place and..lo and behold I'm down.
My calories are in the range of 650-850 daily some days a little more..most days a little less but so far so good and since I'm losing..I'm well pleased.  I have never lost fast ..not even from day one.

So my preferences are for hig protein low carb, excercise and have fun .. interval training rocks by the way as it "fakes" your body out..I don't remember the exact termanology but it's good.
Also as someone else said, eat a teeny bit more one day.. If you can eat a steak..a good one, I recommend that.. YUMM..and your body should start letting go of the weight.

Keep us posted and we are here for you!

Thanks for your post. I love to hear what others are in to so I can take from it something, that may work for me too. I really don't have carbs either but on occasion I can have whole grain pasta or rice with a lot of sauce etc. My cravings are always for meat though so it's not too bad.

I will keep you posted....Thanks
