There comes a point, especially when we have been responsible and on time all of our life, that it isn't so important anymore. I still like to be on time, but the world doesn't end if I'm not.

No one really cares if I am late or not.... just as long as I put in my time.
Hope your day is good!

I've got a good job and am one of the fortunate ones (I think) regarding that. Great boss, flexibility as to what I do, work on my own and can often work from home, etc. But as with any company, there are still unknowns regarding "administrative" positions. While I'm not technically classified as "administrative", pretty much anyone who doesn't touch the mail is considered expendable. I'm in the technical/operations side and work directly for Headquarters, creating programs, policies and procedures, and chasing issues, bugs and problems.
I know this work isn't for everyone. My daughter worked as a casual during one summer and it definitely made her NOT want to work for the USPS....

I worked as a sub in Ohio and transferred out to Arizona and continued for 7 years until I got my own route. After a year of mgmt.'s power plays (plus I was Union Steward and won my claims, so I was a target), I said if this is as good as it gets, it's just not good enough. Plus, between you and me (shhhhhh), I was 47 when I started which was way too late for that kind of physical labor. Especially when you are eating 3 candy bars on the way home every single day because of the stress and getting heavier, and weaker, and so on and so forth. I am glad I got out before I hurt myself and ended up disabled.
Keith's job as an ET was supposed to transfer but turned out the office here in town didn't have DPS machines. He talked to the PM up in Flagstaff and he said because of the clerk hiring freeze his hands were tied. Amazing how they thought it was more cost effective to pay ET's from Phoenix to drive 150 miles one way, eat meals, stay over if needed, and work as many OT hours as they wanted; rather than hire an ET who was willing to make the daily 75 mile commute on his own. Go figure.
But, in spite of the frustrations, we are both still proud we can say we worked for the P.O. and lived to tell the tale. LOL
Hope nothing happens to rock your boat and the next 3 years fly by for ya!! <3
I can definitely see how being a rural carrier would be hard on the body. We have quite a few on disability or light duty because of their shoulders and elbows.
Glad you guys are happy where you're at!
