Hi, I'm new on this board, and have enjoyed your posts.  Word of advice, check out your car.  When stuff like this happens in my life, my car breaks down outa spite.

No, really, it sounds like you have a super positive attitude.  Good luck with all the changes.  That's what life is about, right?  Adventures.  Onward and upward and forward.

Car - LOL... funny you said that!

Actually it was my sons car, but it was just general maintenance, and I DID crunch the back bumper of my car, which I keep forgetting to call the insurance company about.

Now we're planning a vacation.  It will be fun

Wow Jody !! Sounds awesome !

Though Ur son is probably a terrific young man I was just reading an article yesterday on how more and more grown adults are moving back in with their parents or just never leaving ...... so Ur LUCKY ;)

I have a stepson who doesn't want to go AT ALL and hes older than ME !!!! He demands an adults rights and say and certainly takes up WAY more than his share of space, food and the remote .... yet when it comes to paying bills hes suddenly a big- eyed BABY... and ALL his income is frittered away as spending money - his pensionless chronically ill ( diabetic - but thats a SERIOUS disease ) Dad has to pay his cell phone bill , provide him computer a CAR , INSURANCE , HOUSING , FOOD ?!!!! AND gas money ?!!!

I DONT get it ..........

noone did ANY of this for ME

And I turned out FINE . Personally I think parasitic adult children living at home should be SHOT ( jes kidding i'm not TOTALLY nutz ) ..or at the very least thrown out on their collective fat AZZ ( This im VERY serious about ) ......just saying .... oh I'm being SO naughty ..but I KNOW my dear friends would NEVER tell on me .....

Ava - I totally agree with you!  While my son appreciates the "gravy train" as he calls it, I've told him the train is stopping real soon... LOL.  He's also not one of those kids that wants to live with his parents forever, and as long as he's in college, I'll help him with living expenses and probably throw a little more in for good measure.  He's a good kid and I don't want to see him struggle because I changed my mind....  He's trying hard to get good grades and work too.

Now - as far as the step-son goes... I'd make his life living hell... and quite frankly tell his dad its me or the kid... especially if he's OLDER than you!

I think it's great Jody.  You have had enough experience with EX's that you should have a pretty good idea if Tom is right for you and you definitely know how to take care of yourself if it doesn't work out. I think it's fantastic how you are still friends with them.  That probably gives Tom a sense of security too.  Do his children live at home?

As far as your son goes..We have to drive 45 mintues around here just to go to a decent mall.  That's not really that far.  If he's like most college kids they don't even have classes every day.  Maybe he can find someone to room with occassionally.  But these are the words of a Mom who has had every one of her married DD's/SIL, and grandbabies move in at least once...lol  DD#3 is going to start building her house soon and when she moves...I know it's the last and I'm going to miss her so bad!!!  She actually wants us to sell our house and move with them.  DH is really thinking about it (he wants to retire).  Our DD#2 wants to buy our house and that puts me in panic mode.  I think we should see how we adjust being alone for awhile.

The most important thing!!!!   Are you going to have internet???????   Are you only going to be able to post at work?

Actually Tom is a little threatened that I'm friends with my ex's... its not a situation he's familiar with, but he'll adapt.  He's been having to adapt to quite a few different things since meeting me - LOL.

Tom's youngest is 15 and she lives primarily with her mother, but does come over and spend the night on occasion, seems its happening more and more lately.   Its a small house, 2 bd 1 ba, so that discourages kids from moving in full time, which is primarily the reason he built it like that!

It sounds like you've got some decisions to make too!  I agree you need to be alone for awhile.

Internet?  Well.... I did figure out how to tether my laptop to my cell phone, but ths cell phone service out there is crappy at best.  He has an aircard that works only part of the time (same service as my phone).  BUT - he knows I'm VERY serious about this and have made it a condition of me living there - cable stops 2 houses down the road.  I told him I'll initiate contacting the cable company and see what it'll take to get it there.  His neighbor is also very unhappy with his internet he has in his house and would be interested in it too.  It won't be cheap, but in the long run it will be MUCH more convenient as it will allow me to work from home too (if this job stays put).

He just dumped his satellite TV, so he gets TWO channels and NO internet... REALLY????

Nothing can be done with the cable until the snow melts anyway.  We've got a few feet of snow on the ground that needs to go away first, since the cable runs underground....

So, for the time being, work will be my primary location to post, with the occasional time at the house on his aircard, or my phone... we'll see.

I was wondering what he thought of the ex's.  What do they think of him?
