2/13 Morning Coffee
Halle will be 4 May 15th. She is still non-verbal. The majority of her development is that of a 24 month old with various areas above and below. She has never been behind in her gross motor skills so climbing like a monkey is never a problem.....lol That means she can get from floor to countertop in about 2 seconds flat! She is yet to be potty trained too.
Up until recently she would not interact with anyone but her sisters and I. She shows us love, smiles, and asks us to do things in her own way. She resisted her teachers at first but after a year she started to become attatched to them as well. She doesn't allow many people to touch her still. She did try to get my niece who is 4 to play with a musical toy for her since she couldn't get it to do what she wanted it to do. This is new and fantastic!!
If you haven't noticed Halle is absolutely adorable...lol.....we don't get the rude comments or stares from strangers in public because of it. All I ever hear is "oh she is so cute....when they try to talk to her it becomes obvious that she has some issues and I explain to people that she is autistic. I usually get questions when they hear this. I feel fortunate to have a child that has a smile that lights up a room and is such a looker.....LOL It allows me to share about autism so much easier.

What a beautiful little girl! Early intervention can make such a difference and I pray that is the case for your daughter. You are a proud mommy and a true fighter. Autism is a tough disease to deal with.......there is so much unknown but I believe more will be discovered especially as more and more kids are diagnosed.
Bless you and your girl!

Blessing to both of you. My son is 35 and mentally retarded. God gives us these challenges for a purpose. My years of working with the handicapped are due to my son and my life has been greatly enriched because of it.
