2/13 Morning Coffee

Today is Autism Sunday!  It is a national day of prayer for autism and those affected by it.  For those of you who are not aware my youngest daughter Halle is autistic.  She was diagnosed in July 2010.  i always knew there was something different about my baby girl.  I am thankful that there are so many programs out there that are available for her.  I only hope that she will progress to a high funtctioning level of autism.  Please swing some critters for my sweet baby girl and all others affected by autism!

Thank you Gina!  She is pretty darn cute!  I took this picture at Christmas she was very happily chewing on a cracker and I just happened to catch her!

She is beautiful! And very lucky to have a mother who will educate others and promote awareness.

She is precious. My great niece is autistic. she is the daughter of my favorite niece. She is 13 and high functioning. We are hopeful she will be able to go on to a group home with an appropriate job,etc.

Yay!  It is so good to hear stories like this.  I hate not knowing what to expect.

We were that way too when Caroline was first diagnosed.  Just didn't have a clue what would be in store for her and what her life might be like.

We have been encouraged with the services available for her even in their small town. they are within driving disrtance of Vanderbilt Medical center of Nashville and that is where she got a good start.

She is in a mainstream classroom with additional services. She is happy and seems to tolerate most things well. She likes routine and that keeps her steady.

she didn't learn to speak till she was over 4 years old and at first it was"baby talk" hand signals. She speaks now and can be understood and knows what she is talking about and what shw wants to say.

We are all carrying on and hoping maybe there will be a cure/reason for autism discovered in her lifetime. If not in her lifetime we will do everything we can to help her have a fullfilling,happy and productive life.

There is a boy in the town we live in that works for Little Ceasars holding the sign on the corner advertising $5 pizzas.  He is always so energetic and has SO much fun.....he also works for Liberty Tax and dresses up in thier costumes and swings his sign on the corner for them.  I heard he has been offered 3 different full ride scholarships to be a mascot.  I was so amazed and encouraged to find out this boy is autistic!!

What a beautiful little girl!  I will be praying for her.
