Newbie Pre-Op Check List
For some of the newbies coming along behind ME (wow, that souns weird), here are some of the things I did pre-op, for my upcoming flight onto the loser's bench. Can't wait to don the toga of the LW Goddess.
1. Rid the house of danger foods (e.g., chips, candy)
2. Clear out a shelf or counter space for protein powders, sippy cups, whatever you'll use post-op to recover
3. Write a Dear Me letter
4. Pack a bag for the hospital
5. Take your pre-op photos and body measurements
6. Clean out your closet and leave ONLY the clothes that fit you up front. Move all your too-small clothes somewhere else if you can, or at least to the back of the closet... and.....
7. Organize all your too-small clothes (that are still in style) by size so you can shop FREE when you drop some sizes
8. Get your newbie tool box items
9. Make a grocery store run for the post-surg foods (e.g., sugar free stuff, cream soups, yogurt, milk, eggs, toilet paper) OK, only joking about the toilet paper
10. Have a talk with the spouse about what would be nice for them to do for you: rub your back after surgery to help with gas, walk with you in the hospital halls, make you protein drinks...
11. Make a cozy nook for yourself at home for your recovery space. -- a chair with a nice throw and a pillow and some magazines or total control of the tv remote
12. Make work arrangements, like FMLA and disability sick leave.
13. Put a pillow or two in your car now, so you don't forget, so you can hug it for the ride home.
14. Get an angel, and be sure Gina knows your surgery date so folks can post get well wishes to you.
Anything else folks?
