NSV -- How much weight are you going to lose?

One of the ladies I work with this morning gave me a lovely compliment on my weight loss this morning.  She said that I look great!  She followed it up with:

Her:   "how much weight are you going to lose."
Me:  35 pounds.
Her: You don't have that much more to lose
Me:  Yes, I really do.  I dress well enough to cover the flaws, but there are plenty of pounds left to lose
Her:  Be careful you don't want to be too skinny.

I'm still over 200 pounds (barely over, but over).  165 is still in the overweight BMI range.  I'm sure I can carry 165 with my height and structure.  I don't think 165 is a crazy low goal for my age.  If I make 165, I may try for a normal BMI. Who knows how I'll feel then.  Right now, my eye is on the "onederland" prize.

I'm taking the whole discussion as a compliment.  It was definitely a nice stroke for my ego.

You will hear alot of "Don't lose too much", "You need to stop now"  the more weight you drop.  You will know where you are comfortable at.

I aimed for 140 which was my surgeon's goal.  Then 132.5 which was a normal BMI.  Now I've gone below that a little and want to maybe drop 5-10 more to have some bounce back room.  I never want to go over a normal BMI again so I don't want to stay really close to that mark.

Congratulations on your success so far.

I had a friend tell me that I needed to stop before I got too thin.  I weight 197 and my goal is 150.  I was also told that the more weight I lose, the older my face will look because the wrinkles will show more.  Thanks for that, I had no idea

Anyway, I would rather be healthy and off my meds, that have a fat, filled out face.  I just wear makeup everyday, and now I'm told "your color is really good"

My pcp asked me on Monday what I was aiming for, told him 120-130 (120 would be a 20.9/130 a 22.7 BMI so both would give me some bounce back weight) and he didn't even bat an eye. Didn't tell me that was too thin to aim for or anything. Just noted it on my chart and said that normal BMI was a good goal.

I am getting the..."you look anorexic" comments now on a nearly daily basis .....from my GYN doc even...I am an OB nurse so I see him on at least once  a week at work  ... today he shouted across the nurses station this this gem: "You are loosing weight again...stop it... now"....nice.   GRRRRR   I do live in Wisconisn though and everyone here it seems has a BMI of 35 or more....so I guess it is all perspective!
