acid reflux questions???
I had the RNY and I am almost 2.5 years out and at goal.
I had terrible Acid Reflux before surgery. Pain through my chest and up through my left shoulder. I took Prilosec every day and lived on Rolaids. I never drank juice or things like Lemonaide. Even fruit bothered me if I ate to much of it.
After surgery my Surgeon took me off of my Prilosec right away. I didn't see any reason to question him because the heart burn and pain went away almost instantly. After a few weeks I was having trouble swollowing things (even water) and my stomach kept making weird noises so another Surgeon from the office put me back on my Prilosec. I still take it every day with my vitamins and if I miss a couple of days I can tell the difference. I notice what feels like hunger pains and little bit of a queezy stomach but nothing like my Acid Reflux was before WLS.
I eat fruit and drink juice without a problem now and enjoy lemonade in my Protein tea at least 3 times a day.

i had lifelong acid reflux before surgery ( got me up in the middle of the night ,uncontrollable by drugs etc ) the largest congenital hiatal hernia the surgeon had EVER SEEN when he opened me up ...
After surgery....no drugs, no problem.
of course im VERY careful not to eat fatty things and not to stretch the entrance to my pouch .
