Surgiversary
It's been just over a year since I had my surgery and I'm down about 122 lbs, I weighed in today at 117.4! My lowest so far :))
I've gone from a size 20/22 to 0-2-4 depending on the brand. I'm actually finding it hard to find pants to fit now.
I had my follow up with my Surgeon yesterday and they said I've lost 113% of my excess weight. I asked how much weight in lbs they deemed was excess but they wouldn't say, very frustrating! Anyone good with math? :0)
My labs were okay, thankfully the B1 deficiency is cleared up and my foot drop has resolved.
All in all I feel fantastic, I can eat pretty much anything but stick to healthy choices. If I do eat simple carbs which I only do on holidays/special occasions, I tend to fall asleep immediately so I have to be very mindful of when/where I eat them.
This was the best thing I ever did for myself and I am so thankful that OHIP paid for my surgery! :0)

The biggest lesson I've learned and I'm still not perfect at it, is to eat SLOWLY and frequently. If I don't eat every couple of hours I get ravenous and will eat too fast which inevitably leads to a few hours of the foamies for me, which are horrible.
I stayed away from carbs the first few months out, but by my third month I started eating complex carbs daily (oatmeal etc...) I stayed away from breads for a long time, and if I do eat a slice it's protein bread or a low carb wrap.
I have a sweet tooth which has always been my downfall so I've learned to bake with coconut flour (VERY low carb and HIGH fibre) and make sugar free bars and cookies loaded with protein powder.
I bake all my food, the only thing I fry is eggs. The biggest change is I switched from ground beef to ground turkey in all recipes that call for beef and I haven't noticed a difference in taste or texture at all.
I use skim milk in my tea and eat a combination of full fat and reduced fat cheeses. But other than that I eat like a normal person. Lots of veggies, a bit of fruit (I had to stay away from fruit in the beginning as it slowed my weight loss) and lots and lots of protein. I do have at least 1 if not 2 protein drinks a day.

i'll take a stab at the basic algebra.
You've lost 113% of your excess weight
Excess weight = X, since they won't tell you what that number was
You lost 122 lbs.
so that's 113% of X = 122 lbs lost
1.13x = 122
x = 122/ 1.13
108 lbs was your excess weight.
i think that's it. I'm better with words than numbers.
Ask my husband after he looks at the checkbook.
Glad your foot drop resolved. You dodged a bullet there.
