Another quick update--2 goals met!
So, I know I haven't been around much. Grad school is kicking my ass! I'm SO going to Mexico when my MA exams are done and the final grades for my students are in!!!
I'm still really struggling with acid and grazing to keep the acid at bay. However, now that I've been cleared for fruits/veggies and have tried a few and know what I can have, I will be trying to graze on those rather than the crackers I'd been using before. My gastro and I met and she's got me on Protonix to see how that does, but it will be a few days before I know it's working. She's confident we'll figure it out, so I just have to try to be patient. It's manageable, but sometimes I do still feel really hopeless that it will get better, especially when I am really tired and mentally worn out.
I also got a really bad head cold, so I haven't been working out at all the last couple weeks. I've just been too exhausted with trying to keep up with my classes and rest enough. I'm starting to feel better, so hopefully I will have the time to get back to TKD and kettlebells this week! My weight loss has been very slow because of the no exercise and the grazing.
Ok, the goals! My first goal was to lose 20 lbs--did that a couple weeks ago! :) The second was to break 190, and this morning I weighed in at 189.5! I'm so happy about that! I haven't weighed below 190 in, well, a really long time. My next goal is 185, and I would like to try to hit that in 2 weeks, but I will be kind to myself if I don't, because I know I will be a slower loser. :)
So, that's about it for me. Busy, stressed out, still struggling, but there are bright spots in the struggle. I still can't drink water plain, which really sucks. Am tired of tea. :/ (Crystal light is disgusting and I *hate hate hate* fake sugar and only eat it in my protein shakes because that is what they are sweetened with.)
Hope everyone is doing well, or at least better than when I last popped in.
Abby
P.S. If anyone ever dares tell me I took the easy way out, I think I might punch them in the throat. This has been the LEAST EASY weight loss I have ever experienced, even though it's coming off more quickly. Even the many times I have tried and not been very successful in the past, the worst pain I felt was the psychological pain of not achieving what I worked for. This has physical pain and discomfort. I will take the disappointment over the acid problems and inability to drink water ANY DAY.

Sorry to hear that you are having such a rough time. Protonix really helped me with the acid problem. I am a little over 5 months out, and the acid problem has definitely become less of an issue the further out that I get. It is still there, but not as problematic as it was in the beginning.
Good Luck!!!!
Good Luck!!!!
Glad to hear you met your first two goals.
Protonix works great for me. Glad to hear it's helping you. But as we all know, what works for one person may not work for another...we each have to try our own way.

Oh Abby, even for those of us who didn't have any big issues, it isn't easy. But I'm sorry you have had more than your share of issues. I'm swinging you will continue to improve.
You have met 2 goals and that is terrific. Congrats.
