How's you "find" your name???
Ok, this is just for fun. I often see some cute screen names and wonder how it was thought upon. I hope those of you, brave enough to use your actual names don't feel left out, but I'd love to hear the stories behind your screen names!!!
My name is (obviously) Kim, and I always felt a little left out that I just didn't have a knickname. I mean, with a short name like "Kim", it just couldn't get shorter. But about 11 years ago I began working in a salon and the owner (Katy) started calling me "Kiminey". It was her term of endearment for me. A name that only she addressed me by. Sadly, Katy ended up battling uterine cancer and passed away on Sept 11, 2004 at the age of 31. I always think fondly of my "nickname" from Katy and honor that often by using it as a screen....

Caitlyn was the first cat that I got to choose as a teenager from the local animal shelter (as opposed to being chosen by a stray who just more or less moved in!). She was blind in one eye, had only half a tail, and wasn't really what one would call a pretty cat, but she was my devoted companion for 10 years. She is long gone now, but this is a small way for me to remember her.
First and middle name.
Back in the 80's in the beginning of my online excursions,we had AOL. Every screen name I came up with was taken so in frustration I took to the dictionary looking for a name and found"cuckooflower" which is a desert plant with a long thin pistil. I liked the name and the definition . I shortened it to "cuckooflwr" and an email name was born.

So sorry about your friend ... I too have a short name & never really had a nickname until college. It made it a lot of fun & I have good memories of those friends.
As for my screen name, it's not too far of a stretch ... I am a MINI Cooper fanatic. The one in my avatar is my baby "Cream Puff". I also have a newer MINI - a brown Clubman I call "Cocoa Puff". And, my husband has one of the newer ones as well. So, for 2 drivers, we have 3 MINIs.
When I was thinking of a name for this forum, I wanted to be a miniature me, so MINI.Me just kinda fell into place.
Fun topic!
