Calling all NUTS..Suppliment question please
The Iron I've been taking is a capsule and does not make my poop pasty. Ingredients are:
Vitamin C (Absorbic Acid) 60 mg
Folic Acid 400 mcg
B-12 (cyanocobalamin) 8 mcg
Iron (Ferrous Bis-Glysinate) 28 mg
That version of iron was not on your list. What do y'all think?
Also, what's the deal with cyanocobalamin VS. methylcobalimin? I know the difference, but I guess my dietician is going exactly by "the White Book" and says cyanocobalamin is what's recommended for WLS patients. True or False? Doesn't make sense to me.
Thanks!

If it seems to be working for you and you like it, stick with it.
Your dietician has it backwards. Methylcobalamin is absorbed better by everybody, WL or no. We have to convert cyanocobalamin into mehtylcobalamin in our bodies, if I remember correctly. However, most people absorb cyanocobalamin well enough. Personally, I would not worry about which one you take unless your labs indicate you don't seem to be absorbing it well. Then I'd switch to methylcobalamin.

You need more than 1200mg per day. You need to take 1500-1800mg per day, so since these are 300mg per chewable, you need to take 5-6 per day. You can't take more than 600mg at a time and must separate each dose by atleast 2 hours. So, you would have to take them 2 at a time, 3 times per day for 1800mg. Calcium can't be taken within 2 hours of iron or thyroid medication and you must space your doses atleast 2 hours apart.
Bariatric advantage can send you samples of their chewables, there lozenges are very popular. I like the cherry ones and they are 500mg each, so you would only have to take 3 per day.
Flinstones - please don't do it. They are for kids and you are an adult with malabsorbtion, meaning you need more than the average adult. You need to take 2 adult multis and it needs to be a good multi without iron. I recommend centrum silver chewables. These have everything you need including selenium which many multi's dont' have including childrens vitamins. Yes, you take one in the morning and one at night.
Iron is recommended. I would recommend atleast 50-60 mg per day to start and when you get your labs checked you can adjust. It is best to take at bedtime - away from your calcium
Vitamin D - amount depends on your level. I would get your level checked - 75% of the population is deficient requiring large doses and don't know it.
B12 = 1000mg daily sublingual or monthly injection
