Take Your Calcium
And I had mine today. The first was 2000 and it was already osteoporosis. Some numbers reached osteomalacia (rickets). I've taken a fairly large dose of the correct D since Day 1, but that was THEN. 1600 is a drop in the bucket now. I wasted 6 yrs on too little of the wrong calcium.
Remember, in my beginning days, there was no "on line". As always, some of my numbers have improved, some got worse, but the total is 5% improvement. Great. They are all still osteoporosis, though.
Now, mind you, I've done 5 yrs of Actonel, had 1 REClast infusion (mix up last year so I didn't get one then), and my calcium, D and PTH have been more than fabulous since the early 2000's.
I take 3 of my Calc only 4 times per day and 4 of the BioTech calc AND a scoop of Bariatric Advantage calc in 5 of my proteins. Not sure how many mg that is, but it's a lot.
So, I need ppl to understand that once you've turned the corner, there is no going back. You can improve. But never undo the damage.
We all had low vit D levels until we had surgery and began testing so we could fix them. Every diet we ever tried lost us some bone mass. Many of us were doomed before we ever HEARD of any of this.
It's a rigorous fight to stay ahead or even at decent levels.
Don't look at calcium pills as "another pill I have to take". Look at them as your teeth or bones, whichever pushes the button that lifts that pill into your face.
