X-post HELP It Feels Like I Swallowed Acid
I have been having some issues with normal BM's. I have been getting my water plus some daily. I have tried prune juice but it obviously comes from the devil's bottom. I mean no offense to anyone who likes it but it is sooo not for me. It tastes and looks like...well crap. Oh yeah, and did I mention I dump horribly on it. I finally broke down and tried Dulcolax. I don't like taking medications unless absolutely necessary. I took as directed with water (two glasses) and about ten minutes later my stomach started gurgling and I knew they were coming back up. It was tasted and felt like acid coming back up, and now my esophagus and the back of my throat feel like raw meat. Has this happened to anyone else. What should I do? I guess I will try MOM for the BM issue, but I am in actual pain from the Dulcolax right now.
Have you talked to your doctor?

Are you taking fiber in your food?

Several of us have been where you are - no one will think less of you.
Your VSG may work differently than my RNY, but it was suggested that I increase magnesium oxide to help things move on a regular basis - I now take 500mg calcium and add 400 mg mag ox 4 times a day, a stool softener every day, and a probiotic every day. That is generally enough. About once every 6-8 weeks, I need to have a capfull of Miralax 2 days in a row - and then wait for 2 days. Inevitably, it works.
As far as fast acting, which is what you need now, yeah, the MOM and/or suppository. Sorry.

As Stacey N mentioned, the glycerin suppository works wonders and most importantly, you avoid having to take any meds or put your digestive system through any stress. When I was very early out I had some problems and had to use them a couple of times. Well I wasn't too pleased about it to say the least! But they worked and in retrospect, really weren't that bad.
