I had to be there at 6a and it was almost 2 hrs away.  I went the day before and stayed in a motel.  I couldn't see getting up and driving and being nervous.  I loved being first and not having to wait.

Thanks Meg, Kim, Linda and Price!  I'm glad that so many concur that earlier is better.

I've already reserved a room at a Ronald McDonald TYPE of housing place just across the parking lot, for Wednesday (surgery day) and Thursday night only.  There's too many variables, with animals here in the house and arrangements already made, to try and get in a motel on Tuesday night too.  Unmanageable would be a good word for it.  Although it's a great idea!  I dislike staying at a hotel unless I can sleep in anyway.  LOL

It will be a nice drive... just have to watch out for elk... no biggie... have to do that anyway.  ;-)

A part of me wonders what made the other patient cancel at this late date.  So sad.  But, I'll run with the ball and get this show on the road!!

Thank you for helping me turn it around in my head everybody.

:-)

I also agree with everyone. I had to be at the hospital by 5:45 a.m. and left home by 4:00 a.m. AND got up and took a quick bath too. Although it's not "fun" getting up so early, it did feel good to be the 1st of the day, and boy, did I ever sleep a lot that 1st day! I don't remember much before 5:00 p.m. I will also add that I had very little pain (More like moderate discomfort).

It's possible the cancellation got sick...they won't do surgery if that happens. And this is the right time of the year for it. I know I was fighting a cold the two weeks just before my surgery PRAYING I would be well in time for mine.

Oh Ruthie, this is so exciting!  I have to ditto what everyone said about surgeon's being fresh.  On my surgery morning an internet pal has his surgery right before mine.  We had the same surgery team but my surgeon was assisting his surgeon and vice versa.  I loved knowing that there were two very qualified surgeon's in with me.  John's ended up taking longer so I had to sit around for an extra hour waiting.  I would have loved to have it over with by then.  The earlier you go in, the earlier you're back in your room to wake up and get adjusted before they have you up and running the track.

Your day/time is so close.  I'm sending out great healing thoughts as your day approaches.  You have such a wonderful ride ahead of you in more ways than you can possibly imagine,  so jus****ch out for the elk along the path.   :)

Thank you Kim for further bolstering my confidence with the little to no pain comment!!  :-)

And Lee, the energy you are sending is being collected as we speak and will surround me with enough white light that I'll be able to see clearly the Interstate, the elk, and the guardian angels keeping them at bay... not to mention surrounding the whole hospital with positivity, healing, and comfortiing well-being.   And THEN I can start running the track!  rofl!!

I do believe this has been the right choice for me all along and it's going to be successfully uneventful and a perfect surgery.  Sort of like, when I got a yin/yang tattooed on my shoulder blade I imagined I went out of body and helped guide the ink guy's hand.  Okay Okay... not really like that at all, but it's going to be great!
