EEK! Surgery got moved up!

Just when I had everything ready and could relax into my pre-op diet for the next 5 days... the surgeon's office called to say the 8:30 surgery cancelled out and would I like to slide into that timeslot?  The hospital is 2 hours away and I was anticipating a leisurely lahdeedah 7:30 departure to arrive 2 hours before my 11:30 appointment.  DH happened to be standing by and I thought he'd give me an out when I asked how he felt about leaving at 4:30 AM instead of 7:30.  NOT.  He said, "Well Sweetpea, that would give you more daylight hours to walk around the block with me there, and it might mean for an earlier discharge on Friday.  I'd say go with it." 

He's so smart.

Oh wow, sounds like it's gonna be an EARLY morning for you! But the upside to that is that the earlier you get in the sooner you are done. And the less time you have to be nervous. Liz

 Absolutely better to be early. I had to leave at 4:30 AM, too. I was ready and willing. They took great care of me once I got there. You can surrender and let them do all the work.

Sounds like you have a supportive husband, too. A wonderful asset to have!

I always like to go first when the medical team is fresh. Believe me, you will get a great nap from the anesthesia. Exciting!

Always better to get the surgical team when they're fresh, first thing in the morning.  This is very exciting.  I can't wait for you to join the loser's bench.  Sending prayers, hugs and kisses to you.

Yes, Keith has been good.  He's never made jello or instant mashed potatos but he's determined to do the cooking for me.  ROFL!!  I purchased everything needed for the next two months basically and it's all lined up in a row on my dining room table so we can see at a glance what he has to work with, starting with clear liquids to the left.  I can't wait until he gets to the fat free/sugar free pudding that I had to throw in there.  Just hope I don't throw it up.  He'll be crushed.  heh heh

WOO HOO good news, Ruthie!  My guess is you won't sleep too well the night before so why not get on the road early!

My surgery was early too!  I also prefer first thing in the morning.  I agree with the others that the surgical team is not tired yet.  Good Luck with everything. 

I agree that earlier is better.  Maybe you could stay at a nearby hotel so you don't have to be awake so early?
