Before my surgery , whenever I felt a feeling  ESPECIALLY a negative one ...  I would eat .  I dont really remember eating because i was HUNGRY  ..I dont think i ever  allowed myself to GET hungry .

I basically ate all day .

Now i eat my meal  , or i drink my protein tea  and i say NEXT ?   Im looking to INGEST something -  anything  .....  so i dont have to feel bored  or  frustrated or just anything at all.

I like  to occupy my mouth .

How  did U guys learn to cope with this  ?   What  are Ur alternative behaviors  to  overeating  ?  How do U relax ?

This time of year is hard.  I do best when I can get outside, in the garden, with the ponies.  I do some crafts, knitting, making cards but that doesn't hold my attention like being outside.  I have never been a shopper and although I have done more lately out of necessity, it isn't a favorite of my.  I actually do eat a lot of the day.  5 "meals" and protein drinks, plus the additional hot tea and I keep my mouth pretty busy.

I found I had to start drinking more fluids - when I'm low on fluids I tend to graze/eat more.

When I get those feelings I'll go get a BIG container of Crystal lite and drink it - that satisfies my need to put something in my mouth, and I like the taste of it.

GUM!!  I love my gum.  Chew ice too.

Then with Hubbins gone, work, kids and my addiction to the net.  I kinda keep busy, useless busy, but busy and trying to not eat..  What I need to do is to start painting again, I can keep my hands busy.

I will live each day in the mindful present

FYI..........craving and chewing ice (pagophagia) is often associated with iron deficiency anemia — although it may be associated with other nutritional problems as well.  And it's BAD for your teeth.
