I am located 60 miles north of Chicago....we are having a blizzard here!

I am a nurse manager..we were told as managers we HAD to be at work in the morning not matter what.  We were encouraged to sleep over if we have to.

SO...here I am...sitting in a call room...not real prepared food wise. I dont know WTH I was thinking but my food packing skills are sorely lacking!!!  I did pack a greek yougurt for the morning and I packed a bunch of protein...so if there is nothing in the cafeteria I can eat tomorrow at least I can have my protein.  OH...I did remember my sleeping pills and laptop....priorites I guess

Oh Lori, that really sucks.  At least you have food.  I guess I won't complain about our cold weather, we very rarely have snow.  You take care and I hope you get to go home soon.

Lori - sorry to hear you are stuck at work!  We're at the northern edge of the snow and won't be seeing the blizzards or big snow amounts - thank goodness!

Luckily you're far enough out you can have a little more variety in your eating, and the cafeteria will probably have something you can tolerate, even if it isn't necessarily on plan....

Get some sleep!  Hope you can make it home tomorrow!

Hi all!

We got a total of 24" over a 24 hour period and another 6 inches the day prior.

I woke up to my night shift staff saying "good news it the snow should be done by noon....bad news is no one from the day shift is able to make it in right now"

After a moment of "deer in the headlights" feeling....the night shift said, we will stay until it is safe to leave.  Another nurse had slept over and we had her help.  Slowly enough of the day shift people arrived and the over tired night shifters were able to leave.

I have an awesome staff!
