WHAT IS THAT TASTE!?

I am now 9 days out and have finally been sleeping pretty comfortably in my "Lay Z Girl" ..(supposed to keep head up above heart until drain comes out on Friday)..yesterday and today I was awakenend about 4 am by this horrible "taste" in my throat...almost as if I was having heartburn (which I have not ever had a problem with****ep having to clear my throat and swallow and it is NASTY.I haven't put anything in my pouch since 9pm..so pouch should be totally empty, right?  I finally sipped some milk and took my daily Prevecid...but now I was wide awake and trying to figure out what I can do to prevent this happening every morning? Anybody else experience this? 
I am keeping my fingers crossed that this snowstorm (14" and still snowing!) quits before my first post op appointment on Friday as I am counting the seconds until I get this drain snake removed!!

It could be acid....your PPI may not be working and you may need a different kind...call the doctor...

Are you taking pain meds? Sometimes I get that taste from pain meds. Try drinking some water?

Do you think you're vomiting a bit?  Have you vomited yet?  This may be TMI, but, post op, my vomit, tastes kinda strange, like the whey protein type smell/taste.  That's even when I haven't eaten whey protein, but rather regular food like tuna or chicken.  I had this "come-up" right after surgery, like day 2-3, and didn't know what it was until I truely had a full blown case of the foamies/vomiting.  Yuck taste, I brush my teeth and tongue and swish the tooth paste around in my mouth to eliminate it.  Also, I make sure I'm drinking my 64 oz of water, and that I have some water before bedtime.

I take my previcid at night.  Maybe that would help.

sounds like stomach bile! the taste is really gross and weird, bitter and weird. when ever i have been very sick and dry heaving, i would only throw up stomach bile. about a tablespoon of it every hour. it didn't burn much like heart burn but it was so gross.

I think I will try taking my prevecid tonite and NOT take any pain meds...Hope it works...Thanks everyone!! This site is invaluable!

Weird...it sounds like acid, but that seems kind of weird. I had terrible acid reflux prior to surgery and none since, which I think is usually the case. I kind of wonder if your throat is still irritated form the breathing tube or if you have a little chest congestion since surgery. I just have no clue, but I hope it goes away!
