Finally Know What I Have to Do!

I'm so happy right now!

I did a post a little while back about the trouble I've been having finding out my requirements for surgery from my insurance company. Finally, after a month of going back and forth just trying to find out if I have to do a supervised diet or compile a weight history, I get an email from my surgery coordinator today that says:

NO DT HX REQUIRED! Only that you meet BMi requirements...35 -39 w co-morbid or greater than 40!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No requirements other than BMI! She's as excited as I am, since she doesn't usually have this much trouble just finding out the requirements.

I still have to go to 8 more support groups, get all of my pre-op tests done, and do my month-long pre-surgery diet (surgery group requires 12 support groups), but I am on my way to a new me!

Good for you.  Those meetings will really be helpful after surgery and you will be glad they were a requirement.  Can you do more than 1 a month?  The way ours were scheduled, sometimes I could get 3 in a month.  I did have to have a 5 yr weight history but that was no problem since my PCP had it all.

Whoops! I meant to say that my surgery group requires the 12 group meetings, not my insurance. They actually do sessions every week. They do three sessions every Tuesday, and as long as the topics are different, I could go to three in one day if I wanted to. I'm not doing that because of work, but it's nice that they offer them so often.

Are you going to Bariactic Solutions in Greenville.  those were my requirements too.  Dr Scott did my surgery but they are both great.
