Today MAY be a RED letter day

I'll know soon enough, right now I'm trying it out. But after two nights of lows (in the 50's) and adjusting my bolus on my pump down to compensate, eating honey(all I had in the way of quick sugar in the house) to bring me up and still not getting up high enough to suit me, I've finally decided maybe it's time to try it without the pump. So after my shower this morning, I took the battery out and put it aside. I did check my blood sugar before doing it, it was 80, and just an hour ago it was 100.

Anyway, I do know that I I am tired of chasing my blood sugars. I know I can't eat full sugared stuff yet but maybe I am finally OFF my insulin pump.

Liz

Hey Liz, I don't know anything about blood sugars and pumps but just wanted to say, please be careful and ask Charles to keep an eye on you to be sure you're doing ok.

I do hope that you'll be off your pump and thriving!!  :)

I'm watching them carefully...if anything, they will go up which is not as bad as going too low. In fact, going up can be cured rather quickly, LOL, going too low, I feel like I'm chasing a runaway freight train in the wrong direction.

Believe me, I'm happy!!!!!

As was said, this is a HUGH NSV. So far my highest reading has been 120 which for me is absolutely totally NORMAL.

I've been wearing an insulin pump since August of 2003, it's like second nature for me to have it on me, so it feels REALLY weird to not have it attached. It would be like not wearing a wedding ring after all that time. Can be done but feels weird, esp at first.

That is really wonderful and would be a huge NSV.  Let's hope it sticks.

Hi, Liz -

Congratulations and do be careful. I remember when I got to say goodbye to Lantus. Oh, happy day! I assume you are checking in your PCP.
