Recap.....Last nights Chat......
I've been asked to recap last night chat session. I'm sure I'm going to miss something so those of you participated PLEASE add your thoughts!
We discussed preparing before surgery. Some highlights:
-Lose weight - This will increase your help you get closer to goal during your "honeymoon" phase.
-Start exercising - Becoming active before surgery will help with your over all healing process post-op
-Start your Vitamins - In general WLS patients start out malnourished. We tend to eat crap and some only eat once a day. By getting your levels up pre-op it will be easier to maintain them post-op rather than starting with a shortfall and then trying to catch up.....it truely is like taking 2 steps forward and then one step back......
-Create a "INSTEAD OF LIST" - if you come up with a list of alternate activities prior to surgery and laminate this list you will have it with you always for those moments when you just want to EAT and it's not time. I personally found this helpful when dealing with what some call head hunger. I would choose an activity from the list and perform it for at least 1/2 hour if I was still feeling hungry I would find a healthy snack......but at least I did something to try to combat it...which made me feel better...LOL
We also disussed long term success post op. This mostly involved us discussing how we approached our "plan" and being a rule follower or a REBEL. Gina posted today about what much of the discussion was about. As well as answered many of peoples questions about VSG and stomache size.....I honestly got lost at that point.......LOL Basically It souds like the most successful people have done thier research and come into this armed with as much knowledge as possible.
