Unjury--part deux

A few days ago, I posted that my pretest of Unjury unflavored went pretty well. But, do to concerns about premixing, as suggested by KathyA999, I contacted the company. Here is the email response I got back today. I like the customer service. Hope this information is helpful.

Thank you for being an UNJURY customer! Also, thank you for the kind words about our protein! We really enjoy hearing feedback from our customers.

You have a great question! It is untrue that protein will start to deteriorate once it is mixed and that it must be consumed immediately. We have not found any science to support this.

UNJURY uses only whey protein isolate as it's protein source. Whey protein isolate is a milk protein. Normal whey doesn't deteriorate quickly. To get a good idea of it, think about how many days milk spends traveling from the farm to your home fridge. Nobody questions the amount of protein in milk.

Many of our customers like to make their UNJURY beverages ahead of time and still enjoy all of the high quality protein benefits. We do recommend drinking UNJURY shakes within 48 hours of mixing them for general food safety reasons.

Does this information help answer your question? I've attached mixing ideas for all of the UNJURY flavors. Please feel free to call and speak with me or one of the other Registered Dietitians if you have any other questions!

AWESOME.....I really like UNJURY protein.  It's NOT my favorite but I use it quite often.  I really admire their company and customer service!  It was the only protein my surgeon recommended.

This is a common misunderstanding about protein. It's true that protein denatures if you (a) heat it or (b) mix up the protein shake. But that doesn't destroy the protein.

For an example of denaturing, when you fry an egg and the egg white goes from clear to white, that's denaturing. It still has all the protein it had before.

Thanks so much for posting this!  I was wondering and I have my protein ready for my VSG surgery on Feb 10th.

What were the mixing ideas at the end of the email?  Willing to share?

Lots of mixing ideas. They sent me about 15 pages of recipes. Chocolate peanut butter balls, pumpkin pudding, smoothies, spiced lattes . . .PM me and I'll see if I can figure out how to post a file.
