I'm home

Boy, am I glad to be out of there, too regimented. They were insisting I drink out of these 1 oz medicine cups which would not be an issue except I have Essential Tremors (same disease Kathern Hepburn had) and as you age it gets worse. I can't hold one of those cups still to save my neck. Was spilling most of it on me. So I blindsided the nursing staff and talked to Dr. B and mentioned there needed to be exceptions to rules, and I was one of those. He agreed and gave me permission to use one of the 8 oz bottles instead as long as I finished 1 every hour.

They also didn't want you napping at all, even if you had been up all night. I mentioned about sleep being restorative to the body and they had no answer for that one. Just kept insisting one the 2 oz every 15 min.

I'll get my liquids in at home, but I know my body also needs sleep to heal.

Nice part, signed into surgery on Monday at 6:30 AM at 199, I now weigh 193.2

Glad to hear you are home safe and sound!

Good for you for speaking up about the cup and not allowing sleep/napping - how crazy is that????

Congrats and glad to hear you are doing well...I remembered reading one of your posts when I first got on this site and you have fought a battle to get to this side of it all.  Keep up the good work!!!

Glad you are home. My hospital staff was so kind, they really didn't have rules. Wanted me to drink as much as possible, pee, and walk. I slept lots and I agree sleep helps us heal. I was told that that's when human growth hormone is produced to help with healing.

If we aren't informed about what we need to do by the time of surgery, how can they trust us at home?

With DS you'll probably reach goal before me. You go girl!

Glad you are home.  A hospital, no matter how good, is no place to rest.  I was up a lot at night because they kept insisting on giving me lasix at night so I was up all night peeing.  And the days were too busy with everyone in and out.  I felt much better and got better each day once I was home.

You'll do great. Sip, rest, walk, repeat.

Good to hear that you are doing well. Welcome to losers' bench. I hope you take it easy, and catch up on the rest you probably did not get in the hospital.

Welcome HOME!!  I'm glad you've proven it really can be just a couple of days stay.  I sure will be walking as much as I can, like you did, to get those discharge papers all the closer.

Rest, sip, walk...  heal good and keep posting.  Your progress reports are what inspire me now that I'm on the pre-op diet and less than 2 weeks out.  THANKS!  :-)
