X-Post from VSG Board 3 Month Update, Pics in Profile (Long)

Today it’s been 3 months since my surgery and I just want to say that I was very lucky and had an amazingly easy recovery, no vomiting, no pain after the first few couple of days and my sleeve is able to tolerate everything that I've tried in small quantities.

I started the process at 205lbs, lost almost 10lbs prior to surgery, and I finally got halfway to my goal wt yesterday morning.  I weigh every Monday, daily fluctuations are NOT good for my mental health, so that’s how I deal with it.   I started out in a size 16 jeans and an XL shirt, today I’m wearing size 10 or 12 jeans and an M or L shirt.  I started working out at Curves after week 4, and try to go 3 times a week; I also walk about a mile 1-2 times a week, nothing too strenuous, just trying to get the body moving.

On my doctors plan I can eat whatever that I would normally eat, no limits on carbs, ect as long as I eat protein first.  However, I choose to follow a low-carb plan as I am very sensitive to them, can you say CRAVINGS…the more I eat the more I want.  So I currently keep calories between 600-800, protein 60-90gms, and carbs under 40gms per day.  There are days when I go over by a little and days where I am under, but for the most part (95%) of the time, that’s where I end up.  I can eat 2-3 ounces of dense protein (meat or cheese) at a meal, or ½ cup of soft protein (cottage cheese or Greek yogurt) after which I really don’t have room for anything else.  I still do not really feel hungry most of the time, but head hunger is always there…

I have had a lot of hair loss (about ½ by volume), it started at about 6 weeks out and so far it has not slowed down.  Fortunately I had very thick hair so most people would never notice the difference, but to me it just started feeling really dry and stringy, so I had about 7-8 inches cut off last week…It’s just hair and it will grow back J

I still have days where I wonder if I will really be able to lose all the weight that I want to, it seems too good too be true. I think that because of all the times of losing then regaining (yo-yo dieting) that my mind hasn’t fully accepted that it might be different this time.  So far, I’m loving my sleeve !

I can't figure out how to post photos, so they are in my profile under 3 Month

Thanks, I really hate pictures of myself, but knew from losing the weight before that it was the only way that I would be able to see it.  I just don't see it in the mirror...Thank goodness for the tool ;)

You look fabulous and are doing GREAT!!!   You must have had a LOT of hair cause it looks so thick and healthy in the pics!  I'm 6 months out and my hair has finally stopped falling out but it hasn't started growing back yet!

Thanks for sharing...it looks like you meet your goal in no time!!!

Thanks.  I did have a lot of hair, still have plenty, hopefully it lasts through the losing phase, a bald hair stylist might not be a big hit :)  As far as meeting my goal...it never seems to go fast enough, a common malady it seems, but I plan on getting there someday.
