I feel like screaming UNCLE! My mother in law's surgery is in a few hours. I have school work out the wazoo. My husband spent the night with his mom. My daughter came in to my room at 1:00 am..."Mom I have thrown up everywhere." I sent her to the shower. I went into her room and thought I would hurl! Man she meant everywhere. I washed her mattress cover about a week ago. I handed it to her and when it came out of the dryer and told her to put it back on her bed. I told her if you were to get sick or start your period your mattress would be ruined without it. Do you think she listened? Of course not when I went to take the sheets and blankets off her bed what do you think was not on it...the MATTRESS COVER! I have spent the last hour trying to scrub puke out of her mattress. It soaked right through the sheet. I could have screamed. I calmly told her the next time I tell her to do something I expect it done right then. I asked her where her mattress cover was and she said in her closet. Throw up was all down the side of the mattress...on the carpet, beside her bed trailing to the bathroom. I am not supposed to lift over 5 lbs due to the hernia surgery in December. Well I wasn't sure what to do...I finally text my husband and told him if he was a wake call me. He called a minute later. I told him what happened...he was here in 5 minutes. He picked up the mattress and I scrubbed and scrubbed. Man it smelled. I have never been a great throw up cleaner upper but since surgery. I gag horrible. Now she is in my bed and I am on the couch trying to decide if it is worth it to try to go back to sleep. I was planning on going to work tomorrow. It is a mandatory teacher workday. I was going to meet my husband at the hospital to check on him and his mom after school. Kids were planning to stay home and chill. Not sure if I should leave her now. All I can say is UNCLE! I have had  my fill lately. I am ready to destress.

Good Grief!!!  It sounds like you definitely need a day off!  As a fellow teacher, I have FINALLY learned that SCHOOL IS NOT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING....it only took me 19 years of teaching to figure this out.

For the first two decades of my teaching it KILLED me to take a day off....I went to school sick, pawned my sick child off on my mom or hubby, filled my summer vacation with drs. appts.!!  UGGHHH....i had accrued almost 150 sick days...RIDICULOUS!  My family comes FIRST!!!!  (and me!)

Take care of your daughter and check on your MIL......the school will STILL be standing when you return :)

PS...sorry about the vomit!  Thank goodness my daughter is not a "vomiter" ....I think she has thrown up 3 times in her 10 years.  I just can't do it!  THINKING of you!!!!

I have only taught in public school for 5 years but taught preschool for 8 before that. I strive to put my family first. With budget cuts and teachers losing their jobs guess sometimes I am scared to rock the boat especially on Mandatory days. I have no sick time left. Today will probably be leave without pay. But this can not be helped.  I am so stressed right now with K-2 assessments and reports due but you can only do what you can do. I wish we had the paperless k-2 assessment system. It sure would make like easier. Well all of it will be there when I get back . She needs me now. You are lucky on the fact that your daughter doesn't vomit. Mine will at the drop of a hat. I pray it is getting better. We have been an hour and 14 minutes without throwing up longest streak since 1am we will see.  Thanks!

I pray I don't either. One of my coworkers called me today and said where a mask you are the last one that needs to catch it. You don't need to lose anymore weight. I had to laugh. I said I pray I don't get it. I have cloroxed everything. At 5am I was rinsing clorox out of my eye where it had splashed in it while I was cleaning out and trading buckets. YUCK I know!

Yuck.  I can deal with most anything, but vomit.  And hearing someone will start me every time.

Thank goodness for Hubby who could come to the rescue.

I'm swinging that she gets better, surgery goes fine and you can relax.  You are right, when it rains, it pours.
