Good Morning. Good luck today, Jody
So, it looks like the Packers and the Steelers in the Super Bowl. I like both teams, really I do, and from the looks of it some of us like the football parties and all the food that goes with. So, are you hosting a Super Bowl party? Will you do a pot luck and have to take something? I think we need some ideas that are WLS friendly. I think I'll be serving shrimp ****tail but I'd like some more ideas.
Y'all have a great Monday and good luck to those having surgery today. Swinging lizards for you guys.

Good Morning Gina! I've already been thinking about Jody! Plastic surgery is exciting but MAN is it painful! I had a full breast reduction about 16 years ago and that was a very harsh recovery!! Of course the results are so worth it......I guess you forget the pain!
Anyway....I'm not a huge NFL fan (us Southerners mostly focus on college football) but I am a HUGE fan of a good party and good party food! We'll go to a friend's for the game and I'll bring my "fake" hummus (navy beans, olive oil, parsley, garlic, lemon juice) and a cut veggie tray. I like the idea of some boiled shrimp too!
Have a great Monday everyone!!
As far as super bowl parties go I more than likely won't be attending any since I have to work.....LOL
However, a good recipe would be this.....
Low fat Velvetta
turkey or chicken sausage
Can of black beans
Salsa
Combine in a crockpot
Serve with low carb chips, corn chips, or tortilla chips. Or skip the chips!

No SuperBowl party for me. I tolerate football but that is about it. My guys have never had it be a big deal so that is fine with me. I think it is usually on Sunday night and they have bowling league then anyway.

I am allowing myself one day of mourning for da Bears and then I will be transferring my support to the Packers. My dad was from WI and I have family and friends there. I will be going to a Super Bowl gathering. I plan to bring a shrimp party tray (since I know it goes down easy).
I'm not a football fan....I didn't even know who was playing! Hubby has been away for a couple of weeks and I swear the tv just doesn't come on most days. Instead I have my head in the computer.
I will work Super Bowl Sunday, in fact my co-worker asked if I could close for her, so she can get home to watch. My only concern is getting home in time for "GLEE". I have been missing that show. So that's what Super Bowl Sunday means to me.
I'd take hummus if I went to a party. I make almost like Peyton, except I use garbanzo beans and add a little Chinese sesame oil for tahini flavor without so much fat. I'd serve with thin slices of peeled cucumber instead of crackers or pita chips.
I like lowfat Jarlsburg cheese (more protein than the regular version) served with very thin apple slices. Pickled marinated mushrooms, without oil, drizzled with just a little olive oil and fresh parsley over the top.
This is a great thread, because I need more ideas. Most of my social life is at potluck type events.
