If it helps, I asked my surgeon about this. He said the new sleeve will overproduce acid for a few months, up to 6 for some, while it adjusts to the new size. So you may not have to be on a PPI forever, but I think it's important to be on one for a few months anyway. It will help so much!! I guess I didn't think about how long I would have to be on a PPI because I had been on them for years before surgery. I had a hiatal hernia no one ever worked up, just threw medication at it, so I was already resigned to having to be on them. Hopefully I will be able to wean off, but if not, I guess I'm not horribly upset.

The nice thing about my schedule right now is that I am teaching the same class I taught last semester, so I don't have to do any lesson planning. :) University students aren't so bad. I don't have to deal with parents and I can treat them like adults. :)
