I don't have anything else to add either but I just wanted to say hang in there...it will get better.  It is easy to "love my sleeve" now but I felt pretty queasy for the first couple of months and could never get in enough protein.  I too ate lots of carbs during that time because they were the only thing I could handle.  It will be okay and in a few months you will be saying "I love my sleeve" too! I don't have a sleeve but I do have a shoulder to lean on.  We all need it from time to time.  Don't ever regret bringing something up here, we are here for you.

Hi Abby! Don't beat yourself up, especially with your in laws! They are adults and are responsible for themselves. Now about the eating....I like my sleevie, almost ready to name her but not totally in love like some are. I know it will come, but after 6 weeks...I have tried somethings and she doesn't like it, so we stay with what works. That would be....Greek Yougart mixed with SF pudding, and SF syrups, and dry ranch dressing. Eggs...scrambled and deviled(put some greek in them), and all kinds of beans....yeah even taking a can of beans, drain and add chicken broth...it's not glamorous, but I keep her happy on the simple stuff and she keeps me happy...make the most out of what you like...don't worry in time you both will like other stuff. Good luck, and I am glad you shared! Sherry

Only thing I can add is in the homeopathic realm,"like treats like". If you are having trouble with acid, you treat it with acid.

I have read and do myself take a teaspoon of unfiltered, apple cider vinegar every day. I was previously having to take a 20 mg nexium at night and an OTC acid reducer in the am to get thru the day without reflux.

I started taking the vinegar and now don't have to take the daytime  one, just the one at bedtime.

The doc increased the bedtime one to 40 mg but I have kept taking the vinegar because their are other health aspects associated with it.

Good luck and you are safe here to let it all out,
Holly

Holly, I have read that too. I did try it, and it didn't work for me. :( My sleeve did NOT care for it. I will keep it on the back burner, though, for when the sleeve is more mature and able to tolerate more things. :) Thank you!!

VSG on 02/15/11 with
Abbey,
I'm following in your footsteps for the VSG, and you are SUCH an inspiration.  You keep doing the footwork, you keep moving forward, you keep seeking answers, and you keep thanking people who offer support. Thanks for being honest, and for posting the good AND the bad experiences.  Your posts help me realize it might be tough for awile, but the LW forum will be there for me.

I'm swinging geckos and labradoodles for you that whatever is blocking your path to total health and well being is **BLOWN AWAY**  by your perseverence.

You GO girl!
