1st time here and so thankful.
I am so thankful that I found the LW forum. I am hoping to have surgery and have my orientation booked for Feb.9th. This is the first time I have posted anything although I have been checking out the main RNY forum for a couple of months. I was getting nervous since I had noticed that almost no one there had as low starting weight as I do. I was beginning to doubt my decision regarding weight loss surgery or my eligibility although my doctor referred me.
Feel so much better after finding this site and reading some of the posts. This forum has such a positive feel to it. Looking forward to making new friends who understand me.

Welcome Elizabeth. You're going to fit right in here. We have some great daily threads that you might like to participate in. You'll see recurring threads like Fitness Fun, Morning Coffee, Roz's Menu's and Miles, MajorMom's morning post with great questions. I think you'll find everyone very welcoming around here. We have a Lightweight Creed that gets posted around once a week. It's worth a read to see how we all live here in the LW Forum.
Again, welcome!!

Welcome! This is a great board for support and information. I noticed the LW creed was posted again today. I printed it and keep it near the computer to remind myself what the group is all about. Kindness, support, and information, not controversy or drama. We have the same right to good health as anyone, and bottom line, for me, I needed surgery.
It took most of us a time to find our way here but it is home now. Welcome.

Welcome, Elizabeth from another Elizabeth, LOL
My BMI is just barely enough to qualify for surgery so I know how you feel. Not sure what your weight is but I suspect your BMI and mine are probably very similar.
Make sure you chack out all four surgery types before you schedule your surgery. I've got the co-morbid conditions that make a DS an excellent option for me. I wish I could have had the sleeve but I needed the DS.
When I first came here, I was looking at a RNY but my research landed me at the DS door and I haven;t looked back. My surgery is in the morning. :)
What state do you live in if you don't mind answering? If you do, forget I asked. Tell us about yourself. You can read about me on my blog and here And you can read about my journey to tomorrow here My life is an open book, LOL
Glad you joined us. Make yourself at home.

Thanks everyone for your words of welcome. A bit about me. I am 5'2" and 203lbs. I have recently been diagnosed with T2 diabetes (I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant 12 years ago) and my cholesterol is inching upwards although I am not on meds for it as I am for the T2. These two things plus my BMI make me a candidate for surgery. I am from Ontario, Canada and RNY is the only WLS covered by our provincial health care plan. I know 4 people who have had this surgery with great success so that gave me the kick in the pants I needed to do the research. I read the LW creed and loved it. Thanks again everyone.
