Good Morning. What makes us different?

So I was wondering why we get along so well compared to some of the other boards. Is it because we're just a smaller group or because we learn a little about each other's surgeries and don't feel threatened or what?

What do you think?

Well, our numbers are growing, I see new people every day coming to the LW board. I honestly feel that it is that we don't feel threatened by each others successes. We also share in our failures and just try to keep it honest with each other. I don't post everyday but I come to the board every day to see what is going on in the lives of my fellow light weights. and usually come away with either a greater understanding of that person or knowledge about WLS......Hooray for the LW board..Brenda

I think its because we're a smaller group.  Alot of people dont even know there is a LW board here on OH.  I for one am thankful the crazy, argumentative, trolls havent found us  LOL.   Cindy

I was reading the main board the other day and I can't believe some of the crappy comments people make to each other and the arguments they have. I don't know if it's because we are smaller, or because we take the time to get to know each other a little more, but I am so thankful for this group. I would have quit coming to OH a long time ago if I didn't find the lightweights. We just act like a support group should...we are supportive. Who cares what surgery someone has, no matter what they choose, we should support them and try to help however we can. Each individual is different, our lives are different, our ages, etc. but we all have one major part of our lives in common.

I think it is several things.  I think being a smaller group helps, but I feel that we really take the time to get to know each other personally-as much as you can on the internet.  We talk about more than just our surgeries.  We share in our successes and help each other with our problems.

I think the surgery wars are really stupid.  It is like all the NUTs telling people to all do the same thing.  There are different options out there for different people and their lifestyles.  What works for one won't necessarily work for another person.  Of course sometimes there are wars on the RNY board also.

I knew I really needed the malabsorption to help me get to the weight I wanted to be.  I was kind of hoping for the dumping to help keep me in line because I know what I've done in the past, but that didn't happen.

We have successes in every catergory that are willing to pay it forward and help support anyone.  I love reading about the different journeys for the different types of surgeries.  So thankful that I found this board.

I'm off to babysit today.  Hope everyone has a great weekend.

I think the positive tone on this message board is contagious.  I think people tend to treat others as they have been treated.

The positive vibes here are contagious!

I agree ... I think its that the positive vibes are contagious.  I think that people who stay are attracted to the caring environment.  I know the Creed on top of the posts that I read made me want to hang around :-)

I think it is the people!  We all come here for positivity of each other and the shared mutual experience. Everyone tends to have a positive outlook on life -- not that we don't have our down moments individually.  If someone started making comments on this board that were harsh or outside our normal parameters.  We'd let them know, then we'd all block them.   Even if someone isn't on track, the situation can be address with positive encouragement not negative bashing.

Personally, I feel so lucky that I've found this board with this amazing group of people.
