Belly dancer....ME.......

Tonight is my first belly dance class at 6:30!  I'm very excited since this is something I've always wanted to do!  I'm hoping it will help get rid of some of the flubber around my waist and teach me some sexy rhythm too!  It was one of the classes featured at the Free Fitness day at the community center and it was the only class I signed up for......LOL

I've been looking online to find out what is appropriate for practice attire and have found some pretty sexy costumes!  I'm thinking if it turns out I'm actually good at it I may need to get ahold of my exchange student I had in 2005 and see if she can send me an authentic Turkish belly dance costume!  How cool would that be???  I have plans already and I don't even know if I'll be good at it.....LOL  I already see myself in costume dancing around the Renaissance Festival this year........LOL

The dance studio where I do my Zumba on Tues/Thurs has belly dancing.  The owner is the belly dancer teacher.  She subbed a few weeks ago for my zumba instructor and taught belly dancing, but I couldn't go.  Maybe some day I will.

I still find my TT incision gets tight and sore if I do too much in the exercise dept with my stomach muscles.  I'm sure it won't hurt them though long-term.

Have fun and I betcha you'll love it!!  You'll be sore.. but its a GOOD sore!

Love, Love Love belly dance. You should wear a semi close fitting shirt and yoga pants or something nice and comfortable like that. You are going to have an absolute blast. Oh and strap those babies down you will thank me later. LOL

How exciting! My dad owned an authentic Turkish belldancing nightclub in Chicago in the 60's. I love the dance and the music. I recently signed up for a class that starts in March. I figure I've got the belly so why not?

I look forward to hearing about your experience. Have fun!

That sounds like so much fun!  We have a gym here in town that offers pole dancing classes.  It's rather pricey, but I'd love to learn how to do that!

Belly-dancing is so fun!  I had to give it up because I couldn't afford the classes anymore, but the exercise feels natural and feminine and you should love it!  (same with pole-dancing)

The Senior Center at my church has a belly dancing class.  It's scheduled directly after the "Sex After 60" class (I kid you not.)  I stopped in for a few minutes of it - it's so much fun!
