Alternatives to therapy/anti-depressants?

I can appreciate the dilemma. I am wondering if you have tried to contact family agencies like Catholic Charities or Jewish Family and Community Services. They often have sliding scales and serve people outside their target group. Even if you just go for a few sessions, it might help shift whatever is causing your blues.

Are you going to a live support group? They can also be a good source of help, depending on the group.

Depression as we all know can be serious but so can entering the mental health care system.   in this day and age where your 'privacy' is electronically warehoused there is no guarantee it won't wind up in a background check some time in the future. 

St John's Wort has been shown to have benefit in clinical trials.  Research the formulation used in trials before buying it and check for for possible interactions with any medications and supplements.  Even natural products are chemicals.

Exercise and meditation are good self therapy as well.  So is writing and on line suppport groups where you meet in chat rooms and keep your aninymity.    Wishing you well.  (((((HUGS)))))
