P28 Bread......sounds like a winner to me!

This is a facebook page I frequent that has some great recepes for women who are bodybuilding.  Many are high in protein and yes some are far to high carb for the likes of us......BUT there are some great ones if you sift through them.

This morning she posted a picture of this bread.......I think it sounds fantastic!  14gr of protein in 1 SLICE!!  I'm sure the stuff tastes aweful.....lol  But I'd rather have my carbs provide me with more protein than sugar!!!

I think I've found a winner!

I've tried it... it actually doesn't taste too bad.  Softer than I thought, and kinda chewy.  Throw a little fruit spread on top and it makes a nice piece of toast.  I would get it more often if it weren't so hard to find (i.e. I haven't found it locally..)  I think I paid almost $9/loaf with shipping and everything.

Worth trying... was getting sick of liquid protein. :)

That's pretty spendy!  You haven't found it anywhere locally though huh?  Do you live in the Metro area?  You'd think it would be stocked at a healthfoods store........

yeah, I live down in the southeast side of the metro and have looked at a few health food stores in woodbury without any luck... :-(  I even asked them, but Vitamin World or whatever that place is called hadn't even heard of it.

I bought a loaf, it's okay but pricey!  I like making French toast with it, I could never eat it untoasted/cooked it's very spongy in it's natural state!  :0)

Even toasted, I have to toast it very well done or else the inside is spongy.

It makes good toast.  It is pricey, but you can get it for closer to $5 a loaf if you comparison-shop.  I only eat 1/2 slice at a time, and freeze it to last longer.  It thaws like new.  It's not bad, and takes care of the bread/toast craving.  It's good as toast with peanut butter on it!

I'm betting with the texture you all describe it will make great paninni bread!

I bought 10 loaves a couple of months ago with a free shipping offer.  I just threw most of it in the freezer and take out a loaf when needed.  It does taste good when it's toasted - I can only eat 1 slice at a time.  I like it a lot with peanut butter and sugar-free jelly.

My daughters both like it a lot too.  One likes to make a breakfast sandwich with turkey sausage and low-fat cheese.

I tried it.  Tasted ok but after 2 bites it was evident that bread is not my friend ....sits like a rock and hurts my pouch    :(
