Please kick me....

I just want to commend you for dealing with this right now. I regained 100 lbs after my first surgery because I didn't want to deal with it. I was angry that the surgery didn't take away my carb addiction and I saw other post ops eating carbs and not gaining weight. I was embarrassed so I stayed away from my online and RL support group. I did at one point address my carb addiction but because I didn't seek support from other post ops I feel off the wagon and by the time I had my surgery I had regained 70 lbs from when I started eating carbs again.
I used my revision as an opportunity to detox from carbs since I had to do the clear liquids and full liquids then the soft phase.
The maintainence part of the program scares me more then the losing part. Losing is easy when you are on the WLS honeymoon and you are getting rewarded all the time with weight loss and the hunger isn't there. It's when people no longer mention how good you look because they are used to seeing you this way. It is when you start eating more and the appetite kicks back in. That is when you need support more then ever.
I won't kick you. I just want to encourage you to stay with your support and take it one day at a time. Recovering from your surgery will give you time to get used to eating less. You will lose the extra weight and you will succeed. I know you will.

It scares the dickens out of me to think I'll gain all my weight back.  I do become obsessive with the scale at times, but that works for me.

I'm so glad you shared the struggles you had and now are on your way to becoming healthy!  We DO learn from our mistakes and learn how to make the changes so we don't do it again... You put it so well.... not just the eating part, but the emotional part....

I know I needed more protein drinks in my daily diet.  2 a day, in my coffee was pretty much all I was getting.  I do believe higher protein can jump start things and get your metabolism moving.  Also my exercise was severely lacking....

Thanks for your support!  It does mean a lot!

Jody, maintainance scares me a lot more than surgery and I so appreciate your willingness to share your journey.  We all, or at least most had lost weight before, it was the keeping it off that was impossible.  Now we have a tool to help and you, more than most of us, know how to use that tool.  I'm sure you will be successful.  Log your food, see where your calories are coming from, do what you need to so it changes.  Sounds like you are on the right track.

My tool still works - I still have restriction - I just have to use it better.

I am going back to basics - what worked for me during weight loss.

Thanks Price!

Good for you for owning up to it! That is the first step, It is so easy to fall off the wagon. I have done it too, I think we all have. You have motivated me to get my batteries for my scale tomorrow, they have been out for at least a week and that is not good. I am also going to order some that Jay Robb egg protein and start doing more shakes. The IVF hormones make you feel like you have ongoing PMS and I have been craving carbs. THANK YOU for telling it like it is and by doing so inspired me to go back to basics to. You are the best and you can do this! Like they say on the RNY board "you can do hard things" Best of luck on the upcoming surgery  I'll be swinging some critters for ya!

Jody, you can do this....owning up to it is the first step. Being accountable to yourself and others makes it easier to do.

I have found before that owning up to it, posting it here and even saying it out loud has a big influence over whether I'll be successful with it or not.  Just being quiet, hiding behind the computer and pretending I'm doing fine doesn't work for me.

I have whined about this a few months ago... and got motivated to lose it, which I did.  And it was easier than I thought it would be!!

NOW - I need to do what I need to do, and keep doing it.  I don't want to be the "every other month" whiner here about maintenance - LOL....

He's been a lot more sedentary since he's met me too - and we've discussed we both need to get up and moving again.

Its so easy to quit doing the exercise and just sitting on the couch... heck - I fell into that routine last summer without anyone with me!  LOL...

I'm getting motivated!
