Please kick me....
- Whey protein contains high levels of all the essential amino acids and branched-chain amino acids. It also has the highest content of the amino acid cysteine, which aids in the biosynthesis of glutathione. For Bodybuilders whey protein provides amino acid used to aid in muscle recovery.[2] Whey protein is derived from the process of making cheese from milk. There are two types of whey protein: whey concentrate and whey isolate. Whey concentrate is 29%–89% protein by weight where whey isolate is 90%+ protein by weight.
- Casein protein (or milk protein) has glutamine, and casomorphin.
- Soy protein Soybeans contain isoflavones, a type of phytoestrogen.
- Egg-white protein is a lactose- and dairy-free protein.
- Hemp seed contains complete and highly-digestible protein and hemp oil is high in essential fatty acids.
- Rice protein- when made from the whole grain it is a complete protein source that is highly digestible and allergen free.

I just got back to basics last November and it was easier than I thought... but I didn't have the BF then - lol.
I need to up my protein anyway to prepare my body for my surgery next Monday.
I hope you can get control of your asthma. With your running that has got to be very hard to deal with.
Love you too hun and I know you're right there with me!!

YOU WILL LOSE THE WEIGHT> you did it before, so you know you can.
Thank you for sharing, so those of us further back on the road can see the journey has some bumps, but they don't need to knock the wheels off.
You hit it on the head. I hate to be a "Negative Nelly" whining about gaining some weight, but like you said - its a bum and its reality. This is the point of the journey where a lot of people drop off the boards because they HAVE gained some back and are embarrassed about it. Its really when we need even more support than before.
I know I can do it. I will.

I'm new to this journey, but wanted to give you a kick anyway. You are doing so well and have come so far to start backsliding now. If he gives up the drinking while you're around, then you need to be really mindful of what alcohol goes in.... those are all empty calories - really like carbs.
You can do it! Your BF won't care (at least it sounds like he won't) and you really don't need the stuff anyway. You get on out there and do what is right for your body! Your story has been inspirational to me (not in a sappy, love song kind of way, but in a "cool - look what she has accomplished" kind of way). You go girl. Get back to the basics.
Good luck and keep us posted.
Thanks for your support!

I also wondered about how the new BF figures into this. Is the partying going to be an every weekend thing? Can he live without it for your sake? Or would he be supportive if you chose not to imbibe? Will the new friends respect your wishes to do that and not give you a hard time?
Sweetie, I do not envy you right now. You have some serious soul searching to do about what is new in your life that is causing you to jeopardize your newfound health, beauty, spirit and new lease on life as an active grandmother.
I hope I have not gone too far or been too brutally blunt in my support of you.
Sending you a hug
Kathy
After I posted my comment I went back and read your reply about how supportive your BF is being. Yippee! I'm so glad for you!!!
So THAT is NOT the problem. Halleluia. Well, I have NO DOUBT now that you will be able to get back on track. I know how dreamy it can be to be in a new relationship - especially at our age, to have found someone again is rare and wonderful. I am so happy for you. Sounds like a good guy.
You can do this Jody! Please post as often as necessary to get the props you need!
Yippeee. so happy it's not the bf!
