In the ar$$.  I need it.  Really... I do....

I now know why people tend to drift away from the boards when they start gaining.  Its hard to come to terms with the weight gain and you don't want to seem like a failure when it seems everyone else is losing or maintaining easily.

Well.. in MY case I know its not the way to do it.  This morning I got on the scale and was the HIGHEST I've been since I reached my goal 18 months ago.  I'm above my 1st original "comfort" bounce back weight.

It wasn't pretty on the scale this morning.

I had told myself 2 weeks ago I was going to get my few lbs off I needed to before my surgery next week.  Instead i've put on an additional 2 lbs.  I know it doesn't seem like much, but I'm 10 lbs higher today than I was in November.  That's NOT good...

Life has been very busy since I've met my BF.  I haven't been eating too badly (except this past weekend I DID let some carbs drift in, but I was mindful of it, and it wasn't mindless grazing), but we have been inbibing in a fair amount of adult beverages.  Even last week when I was sick, it didn't affect my stomach.  I didn't drink adult beverages because of the meds, but we went away this past weekend and I let them back in.

My surgery is 1 week from today.

MY VOW is - protein shakes this week.  Really... I mean it and need to do it.  I need to "de-carb" and get my back in touch with my pouch.  If this is what it takes... then so be it.  150mg a day.

I know I can lose these lbs, I did it last fall when my scale showed me an alarming number (no, not as high as today).

I'm being accountable to myself.  That's why I'm posting....

gina I'll remember that next time I need it!  I'm in the zone right now though.....totally focused on asthma vs. scale and hoping I accomplish both!!  I want to get back to my healthy weight the RIGHT way instead of crashing my way there this time.

Actually, he's quite supportive.  We've been low carbing it and he's been very good about that.  He's a great cook so he does most of the cooking and thinks way ahead regarding the meals.  I'm spoiled....  I've got him drinking protein shakes too - WOOHOO!!

He's up a few lbs too.  He really needs to lose about 50 lbs.  I'm supportive with that and trying to help.

I'm not supposed to drink alcohol for 2 weeks prior to my surgery..well we did good with that for a few days last week then we had our "weekend away".  I really didn't drink much at all... but... it all adds up.  He won't drink cause I can't drink.  It won't hurt him either....

C'mon therapist!  Kick me when I need it.

Oh - I'll get to the gym too..

Jody

I was in the same place and I understand completely and we are here for you!

For my weight and health, I went for Primal Blueprint style lowcarb eating......that wasn't enough so today, for my asthma, I started Paleo.  It's ROUGH but honestly, for a bariatric patient, it's not really off the mark of what we know is best for us in the first place.

Egg protein powder is EXPENSIVE but I'm going to buy some.  I'll have to get most of my protein from food though so that its affordable.

No whey, no legumes, no starch no sugar.  Just meat, seafood, fruits, vegetables and nuts (no peanuts of course since they aren't nuts).

It's a new day for me, not just for my weight, but most importantly my breathing.  I'm tired of having to limit myself because of my asthma.  I PRAY that paleo is the solution for my asthma and allergies as it has been for so many before me.

And my weight....well with working out like crazy which I am on week 3 of that anyway, and eating like this, the fat should drop off me pretty quickly.

Love you and you know I know what it's like, especially with the boyfriend.  So happy for you!

Why do they so no whey protein? The scientific reason, not just so they can sell their egg protein product...
Sorry, I'm a little skeptical about that. Whey is on the top of the bio-availability scale and all.

Gina

Because it' s milk, paleo is dairy free and its recommended for severe asthmatics because of the huge link between dairy consumption and lung issues.

They don't make egg protein that I could find either.

Thanks Gina....I'm hesitant about the egg protein but all I can think about is how I stopped breathing at six weeks old and they were giving me soy formula because I couldn't tolerate the milk formula and what if both of them were my enemy................CRAZY that it's taken me 38 years to try this!
