So I just got a reply back from someone who has been to Vegas probably more times than most mere mortals we know .... And she gives end of August a thumbs up for the weather, along with this other advice, for what it's worth.

As far as Vegas is concerned, I would imagine-- though I don't know for a fact-- that hotel rates are more expensive around the holidays and definitely around the launch and close of "pool season" (April- Memorial Day). KAYAK.com is great for searching for good deals, and you can organize searching according to location, price, and star-rating. My favorite hotels are Wynn/Encore (they are connected), Bellagio, Cosmopolitan (it JUST opened), Caesar's, and the Mirage. I also LOVE the Palms, though it is off the strip, but everything you need (depending on what you plan on doing) is right there-- FABULOUS salon, GREAT night life, AMAZING restaurants.

As far as weather is concerned, just remember that it is a desert, so it is always dry, and it can be VERY hot. End of August is actually probably ideal, because it is hot during the day, but it is still warm (but not FREEZING) at night time. June and July are piping hot. November- January are arguably Minnesota temperatures minus snow.
